Every week this season, Shore Conference lacrosse fans will have their chance to vote for the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Jersey/Shore Sports Network Boys Lacrosse Player of the Week on our website.

The Week 3 winner as selected by the readers is Lacey junior attackman Dylan Vitale, who tallied 12 points in two games by scoring seven goals and adding five assists as the Lions picked up one win and nearly completed a miraculous comeback in their other game during the week.

Vitale started his week with two goals and five assists in a 17-5 win over Donovan Catholic but it was his performance against Shore that was most noteworthy. The Lions were trailing 11-5 heading into the fourth quarter and rallied with eight goals to force overtime before eventually falling 14-13. Vitale scored five times, including four times in the fourth quarter. He scored three goals in the final 1:25 of regulation to tie the score, including the game-tying goal with one second left to send the game into overtime.

He added one goal and one assist early this week when Lacey defeated Jackson Liberty, 15-10, to improve to 5-3.

Vitale has 19 goals and nine assists in eight games this season.

Vitale finished with 37.32 percent of the votes to win the Player of the Week over Rumson-Fair Haven's Rowan Goldin, who had 33.49 percent of the votes. Middletown North's Pete Abbes was third with 10.72 percent of the votes.
