Ocean junior quarterback Kenny Pickett, one of the top 2017 recruits in the Shore Conference, announced his non-binding verbal commitment to Temple University on Saturday night.

Rated as a three-star, dual-threat quarterback prospect by Rivals and 247 Sports, Pickett also had offers from Buffalo, Connecticut, Monmouth, Texas State and Toledo.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound signal caller was an All-Class B North pick by the coaches, and helped the Spartans finish 9-2 and reach the Central Jersey Group III semifinals by throwing for 1,797 yards and 19 touchdowns. He added 336 yards rushing and five touchdowns for an offense that finished seventh in the Shore Conference at 29.3 points per game.
