The Monmouth Basketball team continues their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference road trip today when they visit Quinnipiac, an old and new conference foe, at 7:00 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Connecticut. MU’s second game this weekend is in the friendly confines of the Multipurpose Activity Center on campus in West Long Branch against Canisius on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

First up for the Hawks are the Bobcats, who defeated MU earlier this season, 94-77 behind 24 points and 16 rebounds from Ike Azotam and 23 points from Umar Shannon. QU, which is tied for second in the MAAC standings with Rider at 4-2 in the league, is a physically imposing team that prides itself on rebounding; the Bobcats rank first in the MAAC on the boards and lead the nation in rebounding margin. The Monmouth bigs are improving game by game, and Thursday night against the Bobcats will be a big test to see how far they have come in the last few weeks.

Then on Sunday, MU returns home to take on Canisius, which they lost to one week ago. The Hawks have been a different team at home this season, but the Golden Griffins bring in Billy Baron, one of the better mid-major players in the country, not just the MAAC.

Myself and Matt Harmon will have the call tonight at 6:45pm, while former Hawk Steve Bazaz will join me on Sunday at 1:45pm. We are looking forward to two very exciting games this week, it has been fun to watch this MU team grow and mature as the season has progressed, and this weekend features two tough games against the upper tier of the league.
