CLASS A SOUTH

No. 4 Southern 9, Toms River East 4

Senior midfielder Ryan McWhorter scored four goals and added two assists and senior goalie Luke Maul made 16 saves as the Rams (13-4, 6-0) defeated the Raiders (9-6) to win the division title for the sixth straight season.

Ajani Steverson scored twice, Cade Johnson had a goal and an assist and Ryan Comfort and defenseman Noah Wasacz each scored once. Southern has not lost a Class A South game since 2012.

 

NONDIVISIONAL

Red Bank 5, Toms River South 4 (OT)

Seamus Cochrane scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Bucs to a dramatic win over the Indians. Cochrane finished with two goals and one assist and Tor Haugenes also scored twice. Dean Hottmann added one goal and two assists and Matt Gibson made 10 saves.

Andrew Xigues scored twice, Declan Mullin had a goal and an assist and Jared Holmes scored once for Toms River South. Darius Moses made 11 saves.

 

Mater Dei 9, Long Branch 4

Chris Napoli had a hat trick and Kajell Whyte made 11 saves and also had an assist to propel the Seraphs (6-8) to a victory over the Green Wave (1-18). Jack Torpey added two goals and one assist and Izaiah Henderson also scored twice. Jon Leverock had one goal and one assist and Nolan Aloia scored once.

Long Branch goalie Keith Dement made seven saves, and in the process recorded his 400th career save. Tyrone Hastings scored twice and Zahdierr Blueford and La'Qym Morris scored once for the Green Wave.

St. John Vianney 14, Marlboro 0

Andrew Gosse scored four goals and Nick Peckyno and Anthony Brett each tallied three goals and two assists to lead the Lancers (7-9) to a win over the Mustangs (1-14).

Mike D'Anzeri chipped in with two goals, Andrew Gentile and Nick Caruti scored once and C.J. Hanson made eight saves. James Guilbert collected a game-high 11 ground balls.

 

Brick 8, Colts Neck 5

Zack Alagna scored four goals and Nick Giantasio had one goal and one assist for Colts Neck in the loss to Brick. Brandon Cifone made 10 saves.
