CLASS A SOUTH

Lacey 11, Toms River East 5

Sophomore attackman JoeCarlo Chimenti scored four goals with two assists and senior midfielder Connor Wilson had two goals and two assists as the Lions (1-0, 1-0) won their season-opener by downing the Raiders (0-2, 0-2).

Ryan Giles added a hat trick, junior goalie Justin Covey made 16 saves and senior midfielder Nick DeOliveira won 14 of 18 face-offs to pace Lacey.

 

NONDIVISIONAL

Manasquan 17, St. John Vianney 6

The Birch brothers led the way in a blowout victory for the Warriors as senior attackman Jarrett Birch and sophomore attackman Canyon Birch each scored seven times.

 

Rumson-Fair Haven 9, CBA 1

Senior midfielder Bryan Hess scored three times and senior attackman Alex Werner had a goal and four assists, while goalie Conor Deverin and the Bulldogs' defense put together another dominant effort to down the Colts (0-2).

Charlie Curran and Oliver Heins each had a goal and an assist while Garrett Sweeley, Colin Pavluk and Oliver Heins also scored for Rumson (2-1). Deverin finished with nine saves while the defense, led by starting defensemen Emmett Jennings, Dan Maloney and Stephen Edler limited CBA to just nine shots.

Junior attackman Michael Carroll scored the lone goal for CBA, breaking the shutout with 5:43 left in regulation.

 

Freehold Township 16, Jackson Memorial 3

Junior attackman Chris Novella scored six goals and added three assist, senior attackman Drew Dunn had a goal and six assists and senior attackman Josh Nastarowicz scored four goals with two assists to power the Patriots (2-1) past the Jaguars (1-1).

Mike Ferdinandi and Matt Kondrup each scored twice while Mike Colicchia tallied once. Mike Martino chipped in with a pair of assists. Aidan Purcell made four saves.

Dakota Neron, John Chitren and Joe Iacobone each scored for Jackson. Chitren also had an assist. Senior goalie Dylan Furnback made seven saves. Freehold Township led in shots, 27-15.

 

Southern 15, Jackson Liberty 2

Sophomore attackman Nick Fontana scored a career-high six goals with one assist and senior attackman Kyle Mulrane had four goals and two assists as the Rams (2-2) evened their record by coasting past the Lions (0-2).

Senior midfielder Will Johnson added two goals and one assist, Dylan Smith had one goal and one assist and Ryan Comfort and Anthony Firmani each scored once for Southern. Senior Tristan Farina made seven saves.

Max Matthies and Dylan O'Connor had the goals for Jackson Liberty.

Southern led in shots, 48-19.

 

Brick Memorial 18, Marlboro 7

Senior attackman Gavin Murphy fired in four goals with three assists and senior attackman Henry Moran had three goals and five assists as the Mustangs (2-1) cruised to a victory over Marlboro.

Murphy is now two points away from 100 for his career.

Senior midfielder Mike Mowder and junior attackman Joey Ferrera each notched three goals and one assist and senior midfielder Zack Morton finished with two goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Tyler Sindel scored his first career varsity goal and Dawson Heath and Vincent Spinelli also scored. Steven Assante contributed two assists.

Senior defenseman Adam Plumacher picked up a game-high nine ground balls and Matt Wood made nine saves.

 

Ocean 13, Middletown North 2

Senior Sam Hanna recorded eight goals, including the 100th of his career, to lead the Spartans (2-0) past the Lions.

 

Brick 7, Colts Neck 6

Nick D'Eufemia and Phillips each scored twice as the Dragons (2-0) edged the Cougars (1-2).

Mickey Holland, Richie Cosgrove and Will Swiderski each tallied once while Zion Powell picked up 10 ground balls and also had an assist.

 

Toms River North 10, Shore 8

Senior attackman Andrew Lombardi scored a game-high four goals and junior midfielder Ian Briggs, sophomore midfielder Brett Singer and freshman attackman Hayden Baranker each scored twice to lead the Mariners (2-1) past the Blue Devils (1-2).

Singer also had an assist and senior midfielder Alex Grella chipped in with two assists for Toms River North. Jake Turner scored three times while Gil Goldsmith had two goals and two assists for Shore.  Ryan Morris also sank a pair of goals with an assist and Lukas Jackey scored once.

 

Middletown South 17, Long Branch 0
