MANASQUAN - A shutdown defense and senior tailback James McAlary, who exploded for a career-high 224 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, led Manasquan to its third straight win with a 14-7 nondivisional victory over Ocean in the mud at Vic Kubu Warrior Field on Thursday afternoon.

McAlary's second touchdown run, a 50-yarder with 2:39 left in the game, gave the Warriors a 14-0 lead before a 35-yard touchdown pass from Kenny Pickett to Quadratullah Qadiri with 28 seconds remaining for Ocean (1-2) halved the lead. Senior linebacker Tanner Cowley then recovered the ensuing onside kick to seal the win for the Warriors (3-1). After giving up 41 points in a season-opening loss to Raritan, Manasquan's defense has now allowed a combined 13 points in its last three games.

Junior tailback Tyler Thompson had 110 yards rushing in the loss for Ocean.
