Matt Kukoda, who was the head coach at New Egypt the past two seasons, was approved by the Board of Education as Wall's new boys basketball coach on Tuesday night.

Before going a combined 22-29 at New Egypt, Kukoda was an assistant under Dennis Devaney during a successful five-season stretch at St. Rose, where he coached his younger brother, former star point guard Mark Kukoda. Prior to that, he was an assistant under Dave Emery at St. John Vianney for three seasons.

Kukoda was a multi-sport athlete at St. John Vianney before moving on to the men's basketball team at Monmouth University, where he played under former coach Dave Calloway. He also is the husband of Manasquan girls basketball coach Lisa Kukoda, who led the Warriors to a Shore Conference Tournament title and a berth in the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions final this past winter.

Kukoda's hiring leaves one vacant position left in the Shore Conference at Jackson Memorial, which has to replace Joe Fagan, who is now the head coach at Neptune.
