Every week this regular season, Shore Conference football fans will have their chance to vote for the Lezgus Plumbing/Shore Sports Network Football Player of the Week on our website, with tens of thousands of votes cast this week and over 100,00 votes cast this season.

The Week !0 recipient is Jackson Memorial junior running back Mike Gawlik, who carried the offensive load for the Jaguars in their 21-7 victory over Brick in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV playoffs. Gawlik ran for 215 yards and two touchdowns on a whopping 36 carries - while also playing a standout role on defense - to help the seventh-seeded and defending-champion Jaguars knock off the No. 2 Dragons. The win put the Jaguars (6-4) into the sectional semifinals against Steinert, and also exacted revenge for a 2-0 regular-season loss to Brick. Gawlik went over 1,000 yards rushing on the season in the game for his second straight 1,000-yard campaign, and enters the semifinals with 1,187 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns.

The fans made a late push in voting for Gawlik, as he came from the middle of the pack to win the award with 45.9 percent of the vote. He beat out Raritan linebacker Ryan Dickens, who made 15 tackles with three for a loss in the Rockets' 17-7 win over Point Boro in the Central Jersey Group II playoffs.
