This past Saturday we traveled to Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island to take on the Bulldogs.  It was the senior’s last away road trip, so we wanted to make it one to remember.  We came out with the win in a close one, 21-18.  Offensively we got off to another decent start to take a quick lead in the first quarter.  Our special teams unit also helped us out big time when Tevrin Brandon blocked a punt, recovered it and returned it for a touchdown.  I think that play was huge because it took a little bit of wind out of their sails.

They started to gain momentum with a few defensive stops, and that play completely switched the momentum over to our side.  We weren't happy with the way we played offensively, however, as we let Bryant get back into the game in the second half.  The offense was shut out and we put a lot of pressure on our defense to get late stops.  Like our defense has been doing all season, they came up big and got the stop when they needed to late in the fourth quarter.

Dave Damirgian had a huge defensive series late in the fourth as he made three consecutive plays to stop Bryant in their tracks.  The defense bailed us out in the end and we came out with a win.  The coaching staff always says it doesn't matter how we do it or what it looks like, a win is a win.

This win put us over the .500 mark for the first time all season.  It feels great to be over .500 because we started the season 0-3.  It took a lot of work to get back over the hump.  With one game left we have an opportunity to have the most wins in a season that any of the seniors have ever had.  That is something that we would be very proud of especially considering the challenging schedule that we played.

We are playing against the Duquesne Dukes this Saturday in our last game of the season at home.  Last year when we played the Dukes it came down to the final drive and we came out with a hard fought win at Duquesne.  It's going to be a great challenge on Saturday because they are another great team.

With this being the last time we’re going to be suited up in a Monmouth uniform for the seniors, emotions will be very high when we take the field.  Us seniors will remember this game for the rest of our lives so we would like nothing less than to play our best.  Our goals are in place and we are focused to get one more win, with that being said I hope to see you this Saturday for our 12:00 kickoff!
