Freehold Township 9, Howell 6

Junior midfielder Billy Sasso had a goal and six assists while winning 10 out of 13 face-offs  to pace the Patriots (3-0, 1-0) in a victory over the rival Rebels (2-1, 0-1). Freshman attackman Drew Dunn scored a team-high three goals and midfielder Mike Coppa added two goals. Chris Favale made 11 saves. Junior attackman Jake Sherman led Howell with three goals and junior midfielder Zach Ornstein scored twice. Goalie Pete Rush made 10 saves.

 

Class A South

Lacey 12, Jackson Memorial 10

Junior Colin Rhoades scored four times and seniors Dan Cannon and Joe Long each scored three goals to lead the Lions (3-0, 2-0) past the Jaguars (0-3, 0-1) for the first time in program history. Cannon added two assists and sophomore Ryan Mahon had a goal and two assists for Lacey. Senior Kyle Fisher made 15 saves.

 

Nondivisional

Red Bank 12, Manasquan 11 (OT)

Cole Smolokoff scored with 3:12 left in overtime to lift the Bucs (4-0) past the Warriors (3-1). He finished with three goals and brother Jake Smolokoff scored twice and assisted on four other goals for Red Bank, which has reached double-digit goals in each of its wins. George Zackman had three goals and two assists for Karl Hottman also scored three times. Jon Pierce made 21 saves.

 

Red Bank Catholic 15, Toms River East 4

 

Nonconference

Brick Memorial 9, J.P. Stevens 1

Senior Christian McGratty scored five times and senior Griffin Carney had two goals and an assist while winning 7 of 8 face-offs to lead the Mustangs (2-1) past the Hawks (1-2). Senior Jake Lombardo had a team-high eight ground balls and senior goalie C.J. Guarino made nine saves.

 

South Brunswick 14, Middletown North 1

Sophomore Ryan Aker scored with an assist from fellow sophomore Connor Hedlund for the Lions' (0-4) goal in a nonconference loss to the Vikings (2-1). Sophomore defenseman Hayden Fairhurst had a team-high five ground balls, and junior goalie Kevin Powers made 10 saves.
