Jersey Mike’s has teamed up with the Shore Sports Network to bring you a Game of the Week every Friday night during the fall.

The Game of the Week series continues on Friday night when Jackson Memorial travels across town to face rival Jackson Liberty in a nondivisional game kicking off at 7 p.m. This had been the Thanksgiving game for both teams but has been moved to the season opener this year, and you can listen to it live on the radio on 1160 a.m. or 1310 a.m. and streaming right here at ShoreSportsNetwork.com.

That is one of two high school football broadcasts this weekend, as Shore Sports Network will also be at Toms River North on Saturday at 7 p.m. for the Mariners' Class A South showdown against Lacey in the season opener for both teams.

As for Friday night, the Jaguars, who are the defending Class A South champions, look to keep their streak intact as they have never lost to the Lions since the inception of Jackson Liberty's program in 2007. Jackson Memorial looks to show it has simply reloaded after the graduation of All-Shore talents like running back Khani Glover and linebacker Ken Bradley. The Jaguars are led by senior Joe DeMaio, a three-year starter at quarterback, senior tight end/defensive end Brody Graham and a veteran offensive line led by senior Brad Greenway. Senior linebacker Zach Tetro and junior safety Kyle Johnson lead a defense looking to show there will be no drop-off after graduating several standouts.

The Lions are coming off a 4-6 season and looking to get back into the state playoffs after making their first postseason appearance in 2012. They will unveil an offense featuring a host of new skill players, including quarterback Ryan Van Wickle and senior tailback Dom Regina, who is back after missing all of last season with an injury. A veteran receiving corps led by seniors Brett Ribellino and Matt Pinto give them threats in the passing game. Two-way lineman Jared Dizenzo leads the Lions up front on both sides of the ball, and a group of veteran linebackers led by Regina, Van Wickle, and seniors Ryan Barbato and Brian Mathieu.

One player who will not be on the field is Jackson Memorial senior wide receiver/safety Matt Castronuova, a four-year varsity starter who was Jackson Liberty's top player and decided to transfer across town before this season. He has to sit out the first 30 days of the season because of the NJSIAA transfer rule following a ruling by the Jackson Township superintendent and Board of Education.

Calling the game will be play-by-play broadcaster Matt Harmon, a four-time New Jersey broadcaster of the year, and he is joined in the booth by Kevin Williams, a nine-time New Jersey Sportscaster of the Year and 35-year veteran of covering high school sports.  Down on the field is former Shore Conference coach Ed Sarluca, offering his unique perspective of the game from the trenches.

All games can be heard on News Talk Radio WOBM 1160 & 1310 AM, here on shoresportsnetwork.com and via Radio Pup on your phone or tablet.

Jersey Mike’s is also sponsoring the Shore Conference Team of the Week on a weekly basis, and the winner will receive free subs after practice that week courtesy of Jersey Mike’s.
