The news this week that former Manalapan High School quarterback Mike Bimonte was transferring to Monmouth University was not a shock.  Bimonte had announced at the end of last season he would leave Rutgers and pursue other options for a redshirt senior season after never taking a snap behind center during his Scarlet Knights career.  A three-year starter at Manalapan, Bimonte appeared in all 12 games last season for Rutgers as the regular holder for extra points and field goals and was awarded the Loyal Knight Award at the end-of-season banquet.

Bimonte, who graduated from Rutgers in May, would join a crowded field of quarterbacks at Monmouth including redshirt freshman Cody Williams, redshirt junior Ben Onett and junior Devin Ray who also transferred from Rutgers to Monmouth last summer.

Bimonte made the announcement of his transfer this week on Twitter, but is not yet enrolled for the fall semester.
