Just about every weekend around the state there are one day basketball showcases which are designed to give teams the chance to play opponents they would not usually face during the season. These events feature multiple games in one location and for hoops junkies it’s a great way to see several games for just one admission. Tomorrow (Saturday) Central Regional High School will host such an event to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer which is a national fundraising program that has raised over $100 million for the American Cancer Society since it was launched in 1993.

There are five games inside the spacious Golden Eagles gym beginning at 11am when Donovan Catholic faces Highland Regional. The rest of the schedule:

12:45-            Central Regional     vs.       Colonia

2:30-              Manchester             vs.       Allentown

4:15-              Howell                       vs.       Old Bridge

6:00-              Toms River North   vs.       Woodbridge

A dozen local businesses have signed on as sponsors to help insure financial success. The ten participating teams were responsible for selling Coaches vs. Cancer wristbands which will be on sale as well as tee shirts throughout the day.
