The team decided that as an offense we had to get off to a fast start against Holy Cross.

We've been putting a lot of pressure on our defense early this season, because the offense would take a while to warm up. For the first time this season we came out very fast and strong, scoring 21 straight points to start the game, and as expected the defense was playing confidently and with an edge, knowing we had that lead. The defense did end up giving up two late scores, but we were able to close the game out and win our first game of the season against the Crusaders.

Winning is a feeling that you don't take for granted; especially after going through a three-game losing streak to start the year. Instead of a silent locker room after the game, there were guys celebrating and playing music. The bus ride home isn't silent, either. Any aches and pains you might have don't feel as bad after a win. We've worked really hard up to this point in the season and it was about time we got rewarded for our work.

Our record is now 1-3, and we realize we still have a lot to improve on. Our next game is this Saturday against Columbia University in New York City. We're excited to have the opportunity to play Columbia because Monmouth has never beaten an Ivy League team before and our only game against an Ivy League opponent last year against Cornell. We looking to carrying our momentum from our first win into our matchup with Columbia, so make sure you tune in!
