No. 10 Barnegat 12, Lacey 5

Junior midfielder J.J. McKenna scored five goals and picked up seven ground balls, and senior midfielder Ricky Gerena had four assists and seven ground balls to lead the Bengals (2-0) past the Lions (1-1) in Lacey. Tristian Potts chipped in with three goals, Matt Manno had two and Zach Flaherty finished with a goal and an assist.

Senior attackman Tim Gleason had two goals and an assist, and junior goalie Mike Trezza made 10 saves for Lacey.

 

No. 7 Manasquan 7, No. 5 Freehold Township 6 (OT)

Senior midfielder Chris Klodowski netted the game-tying goal with 30 seconds left in regulation and sophomore attackman Jarrett Birch connected with 1:22 left in overtime to send the Warriors (3-1) to a thrilling win over the Patriots.

Klodowski and Brich each finished with two goals, as did sophomore John Moran, to lead Manasquan to its third straight victory. Devan Carroll had a goal and an assist and Klodowski and Moran also assisted on goals. Tom Pollock made 10 saves in goal to earn the win.

Senior midfielder Billy Sasso led the Patriots with three goals while John Poole tallied twice and Matt Schroepfer made 11 saves.

 

Wall 10, No. 9 Red Bank 8

Down by two goals entering the fourth quarter, the Crimson Knights scored six times in the final period to upend the Bucs and win their season opener. Mike Steppe scored a game-high five goals, Michael McIntyre had two goals and two assists and Liam Ferguson notched three assists to lead the way. Zachary Harrell made 10 saves in goal.

Brian Fagan had three goals and one assist and Cole Smolokoff also had three goals for Red Bank (1-2).

 

St. Rose 14, Long Branch 0

Senior attackmen Scott Dimmit and Matt Frost led a balanced attack with three goals and one assist and two goals and two assists, respectively, as the Purple Roses (1-2) picked up their first win of the season by blanking the Green Wave (1-2). Jimmy Barry, Chris Bormida and Griffin McDermott also scored twice each while Ryan O'Malley had a goal and an assist.

Senior defenseman Louis Melone had a game-high eight ground balls and sophomore goalie Robbie Brugnoli made five saves to pick up the shutout.

 

Red Bank Catholic 17, Marlboro 3

Junior attackman Alec Mintz scored five goals and added four assists, and senior attackman Tim Barile finished with four goals and four assists to lead the Caseys (1-1) past the Mustangs (0-1) at Count Basie Field in Red Bank. Junior midfielder Brett Habich added two goals and four assists.

 

Shore 7, Toms River North 6

Senior James Bedell scored three goals and junior Doug Goldsmith added a pair of strikes as the Blue Devils (2-1) raced out to a 6-1 lead and held off the Mariners (1-1). Senior Chris Johnsen had a goal and three assists and Hunter Avallone made 10 saves. Goldsmith also had a game-high 14 ground balls and won 11 of 15 face-offs.
