Shore Conference Tournament

First Round

1-Southern 22, 16-Brick 5

Senior midfielder Chris Smith scored four goals, including the 100th of his career, and junior attackman Nick Simonelli also scored four goals to go along with three assists as the Rams (14-0) raced out to a 17-4 halftime lead in wiping out the Dragons (8-7).

Dylan Jinks (3-3), Kyle Mulrane (3-1), Shawn McManus (3-1) and Will Johnson (3-2) each recorded hat tricks while Jon Manzo had a goal and two assists and Giancarlo Disporto also scored for Southern.

Hunter Palmer had a hat trick for Brick and Pat Adamitis scored twice. Mickey Holland had three assists.

Southern will host eighth-seeded Ocean in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

 

3-CBA 13, 14-Wall 4

Junior attackman Shay Walczak buried a game-high five goals to lead the Colts (11-3) past the Crimson Knights (9-5) and into the quarterfinals.

Senior midfielder Nick Gazzillo added a hat trick and sophomore attackman Nick Casner had a goal and three assists. Shane McGuiness, John Salcedo and John Spadevecchia each finished with a goal and an assist and Mike Carroll also scored for CBA.

Mike McIntyre and Mike Steppe each scored twice for Wall.

CBA will host sixth-seeded Freehold Township on Thursday. The Colts defeated the Patriots 11-4 during the regular season.

 

4-Manasquan 12, 13-St. John Vianney 6

Sophomore midfielder Pat Felstedt scored a career-high six goals while sophomore attackmen Jarrett Birch and Joe Tonkovich each had two goals and one assist to lead the Warriors (12-2) past the Lancers (7-8) and into the quarterfinals.

Manasquan will host 12th-seeded Jackson Liberty on Thursday.

 

12-Jackson Liberty 14, 5-Howell 13 (OT)

Matt Ferullo netted the game-winning goal in overtime as the Lions (9-5) shocked the Rebels (11-3) to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Ferrulo finished with three goals and an assist. Liberty will face Manasquan on Thursday.

 

8-Ocean 12, 9-Toms River North 5

Junior midfielder Erik Rant scored a game-high four goals and junior attackman Joey Appio assisted on five goals while also scoring once to power the Spartans (10-1) past the Mariners (8-3).

Sam Hanna added a hat trick and one assist, Zack Carsick had two goals and one assist and Christian Goslin and Conor Daly also found the back of the net for the Spartans. Sophomore David Walk made eight saves and Rant and senior LSM Steven Graziano each picked up seven ground balls.

 

6-Freehold Township 9, 11-Lacey 3

Senior midfielder Billy Sasso sank five goals, assisted on another and picked up seven ground balls as the Patriots (12-4) topped the Lions (11-5) to reach the quarterfinals.

Matt Lach added a pair of goals and Josh Nastarowicz and Kevin Patten also tallied for Freehold Township.

Senior attackman Lucas Sirotniak had a hand in all three Lacey goals with a goal and two assists. Tim Gleason and Connor Wilson had the Lions' other goals and Mike Trezza made 12 saves.

Freehold Township now gets a rematch with third-seeded CBA on Thursday where they will try to avenge an 11-4 regular-season loss.

 

10-Barnegat 15, 7-Red Bank Catholic 14

Down 7-1 after the first quarter, the Bengals (6-3) put together an incredible rally to come back and stun the Caseys (9-4) to reach the quarterfinals for the second straight season.

Senior midfielder Ricky Gerena scored with eight seconds left in regulation to complete the comeback, as the Bengals scored five goals in the final 2:48 of the game.

Ricky Gerena, junior midfielder J.J. McKenna and senior attackman Matt Manno each scored four goals to fuel the comeback. Junior attackman Ryan Reynolds added a pair of goals and an assist and sophomore defenseman Hunter Narozniak also scored. Gerena also had two assists. Sophomore Kyle Kessinger made six saves

 

2-Rumson-Fair Haven 13, 15-Colts Neck 2

Junior attackman Robbie Garavente scored twice and added an assist and senior Seamus Walsh and sophomores Bryan Hess and Ryan Tuorto also scored twice to lead the four-time defending SCT champion Bulldogs (10-5) past the Cougars (6-6).

Junior Henry Sillen added a goal and an assist and sophomore Oliver Heins, junior Matt Waters and senior Lucas Seckler also scored for Rumson.

Junior FOGO Butch Clark won 11 of 13 face-offs, senior defenseman Cooper Cuje had three takeaways and junior Kyle Knapp made three saves to earn the win.

Rumson will host 10th seeded Barnegat in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
