Shore Conference Tournament

Quarterfinals

6-Freehold Township 9, 3-Christian Brothers Academy 8 (OT)

Senior midfielder Billy Sasso scored with 16.5 seconds left in the first overtime to deliver the Patriots an heart-stopping victory over the Colts to reach the SCT semifinals for the first time in program history.

Sasso finished with a game-high five goals and one assist, a game-high 13 ground balls and an 11-for-19 performance on face-offs. Goalie Matt Schroepfer made a pair of crucial saves late in the fourth quarter and another in overtime and finished with 18 stops. Mike Ferdinandi added two goals and one assist and Brandon Nunez and Chris Novella also tallied for the Patriots (13-4), who defeated CBA for just the second time in program history and first since 2010.

The Patriots will play second-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven in one of the semifinal games on Saturday at Toms River East.

Mike Carroll had a hat trick and Shay Walczak had a goal and three assists to lead CBA (11-4). John Spadavecchia, Nick Casner, Shane McGuiness and Nick Gazzillo also scored for the Colts while Evan Bynoe made eight saves.

 

2-Rumson-Fair Haven 18, 10-Barnegat 4

Junior attackman Griffin Schultz had a hat trick with two assists, senior midfielder Lucas Seckler and junior attackman Henry Sillen each had a hat trick with one assist and junior attackman Robbie Garavente had two goals and three assists as the Bulldogs (11-5) overpowered the Bengals (6-4) to win their seventh straight game and reach the SCT semifinals.

Sophomore attackman Colin Pavluk scored with with one assist and junior midfielder Matt Waters also sank a pair of goals. Sophomores Charlie Curran and Bryan Hess along with freshman Wyatt Feinberg also found the back of the net for Rumson. Junior midfielder Butch Clarke won 11 of 13 face-offs.

Rumson, the four-time defending SCT champion, will play Freehold Township in the semifinals on Saturday at Toms River East.

Ricky Gerena had two goals and Matt Manno and J.J. McKenna scored one each for Barnegat.

 

4-Manasquan 7, 12-Jackson Liberty 3

Senior midfielder Chris Klodowski had hat trick with one assist and sophomore attackman John Moran scored twice with two assists to lift the Warriors (13-2) over the Lions (9-6) and into the SCT semifinals. Sophomore defenseman Kyle LeBlanc forced seven turnovers to lead the defensive effort.

Chris Mulholland made 15 saves for Jackson Liberty.

Manasquan will face top-seeded and undefeated Southern in the semifinals on Saturday at Toms River East.

 

1-Southern 15, 8-Ocean 4

Senior attackman Dylan Jinks pumped in six goals with one assist to record his 400th career point and send the Rams (15-0) to the SCT semifinals for the third straight year.

Junior attackman Nick Simonelli scored two goals with three assists to hit 100 career points and senior midfielder Chris Smith scored four goals with one assist. Kyle Mulrane added a pair of goals and an assist and Shawn McManus had a goal and two assists. Brendan Lefanto made 14 saves.

Sam Hanna and Erik Rant each scored twice for Ocean (10-2) while David Walk made eight saves.

Southern will play fourth-seeded Manasquan in the semifinals on Saturday at Toms River East.

 

Regular Season

Class A South

Lacey 11, Jackson Memorial 3

Senior attackman Lucas Sirotniak scored a game-high four goals and senior attackman Tim Gleason had two goals and two assists as the Lions (12-5, 5-2) defeated the Jaguars (7-8, 4-3).

Senior attackman Kiernan Quinn added two goals and one assist and senior midfielder Dan McAvoy had a goal with two assists. Sophomore midfielder Connor Wilson had a goal and one assist and junior midfielder Ryan Mahon also scored for Lacey. Mike Trezza made nine saves.

Senior attackman Troy Wolf scored twice and Billy Plungis had a goal and an assist for Jackson. Dylan Furnback made eight saves.

 

Brick 11, Toms River East 1

Hunter Palmer sank five goals and Pat Adamitis scored twice to lead the Dragons (9-7, 3-4) past the Raiders (0-11, 0-7).

 

Class B North

St. John Vianney 6, No. 7 Red Bank Catholic 5

Connor Zielaznicki scored the game-winning goal to give the Lancers (8-8) their first ever win over the Caseys (9-5).

 

Nondivisional

Red Bank 17, Toms River South 8

Junior attackman Cole Smolokoff continued to put up points in bunches with five goals and six assist to lead the Bucs (8-10) past the Indians (2-12). Junior attackman Ryan Gilmartin also scored five goals and added one assist and Dan Vilardi sank four goals.

Ethan Lucas scored four goals for Toms River South.

 

 

Nonconference

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 13, Holmdel 1

Billy DiMaio scored and Justin Ruiz made 25 saves for Holmdel (4-9.)
