At Toms River East

2-Rumson-Fair Haven 6, 6-Freehold Township 0

Senior long-stick midfielder Jack Moore and senior defenseman Cooper Cuje led a brilliant defensive effort while and juniors Matt Waters, Griffin Schultz and Robbie Garavente each had a goal and an assist to lead the Bulldogs (12-5) back to the SCT final.

Sophomore goalie Conor Deverin made five saves and Matt Waters, Lucas Seckler and Charlie Curran also scored for Rumson. Junior FOGO Butch Clark along with the wing play of Moore and junior Lachlan Hull helped nullify Freehold Township's face-off prowess led by Billy Sasso, which was also a key factor in the shut out.

Matt Schroepfer made 10 saves for Freehold Township (13-5).

Rumson will go for its record fifth straight SCT title at 4 p.m. on Tuesday against Southern. It is the third straight season the Bulldogs and Rams have played for the championship.

 

1-Southern 8, 4-Manasquan 4

Senior attackman Dylan Jinks scored the go-ahead goal 50 seconds into the fourth quarter and the Rams piled on three more goals in the final frame to pull away from the upset-minded Warriors and advance to the SCT final for the third straight season.

Jinks finished with two goals and one assist, and Will Johnson and Chris Smith also scored twice for Southern (16-0). Johnson's first goal came just before the buzzer to end the first quarter off a great pass from Jon Manzo. Nick Simonelli added a goal and an assist and Kyle Mulrane also tallied for the Rams.

Manasquan jumped out to a 3-0 first quarter lead on goals by Chris Klodowski, Devan Carroll and Pat Felstedt, but Southern's defense held the Warriors to one goal over the final 40 minutes of action. The Rams closed on an 8-1 run to remain undefeated and set up third straight SCT final rematch with Rumson on Tuesday. Senior goalie Brendan Lefanto made several crucial stops and finished with 14 saves.

Carroll scored twice for Manasquan (13-3) while sophomore Kyle LeBlanc led a fantastic defensive effort that limited Southern to its lowest goal output of the season. Sophomore Tom Pollock made 12 saves, including six in the second quarter.

Trailing 4-2 at halftime, the Rebels (12-3) erupted for 13 second-half goals to put away the Crimson Knights (9-6). Senior attackman Mark Buannic and senior midfielder Ryder Verdoni each scored four goals and senior midfielder Zack Ornstein had a hat trick and two assists while going 23-for-27 on face-offs.

Senior attackman Jake Sherman scored twice and J.T. Pojero and Nic Rossi also tallied for Howell. Ian Colmorgan made six saves.

Junior attackman Mike Steppe scored four goals to lead Wall. Lucas Iarossi added a pair of goals, Liam Ferguson, Dylan Bosco and Timothy O'Hern each finished with a goal and an assist and Joseph Fay scored once. Zach Harrell made six saves.
