Game Of The Week: Brick Reaches Championship With 45-24 Win [AUDIO]
A 25-yard interception return for a touchdown by Ja’Quez Johnson with 1:55 left in the game gave the Green Dragons (8-3) a 38-24 lead and then junior running back Ray Fattaruso tacked on a 40-yard touchdown run for the exclamation point to send Brick to its first state championship game since 1994 with a 45-24 win over the Burlington Township Falcons (6-4) in the Sonny’s Recycling Shore Sports Network High School Football Game of the Week. Senior quarterback Carmen Sclafani had 197 yards rushing and scored four touchdowns of 4, 51, 31 and 3 yards to give him 1,098 yards rushing for the season for his second straight 1,000-yard rushing season. Fattaruso rolled up 203 yards on the ground to also go over the 1,000-yard rushing mark at 1,036. Senior kicker Anthony Starego added a 20-yard field goal and went 7-for-7 on extra points.
Brick will play the winner of Saturday’s Nottingham-Colts Neck game in the championship in search of its first title since 1994.
