No. 4 Middletown South 24, Howell 7

Senior quarterback Kyle Brey threw a touchdown pass to Spencer Peerless and ran for a score, and Drew O'Connell added a rushing touchdown to help the Eagles (2-0, 1-0) top the Rebels (2-1, 1-1).

Matt Mosquera added a 28-yard field goal for his first varsity field goal in the win.

Howell quarterback Connor McGlynn threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to senior wideout Joey Schultz in the loss.

No. 2 Manalapan 49, Middletown North 14

Junior quarterback Charlie Lombana threw a pair of touchdown passes, tailback Tyler Leonetti scored twice and fullback Nelson Rivera added two touchdown runs of his own as the Braves (2-0, 2-0) rolled past the Lions (0-2, 0-1).

Junior Imamu Mayfield added a touchdown run along with junior John Cheung for Manalapan. Rutgers recruit Saeed Blacknall had a touchdown catch, and Leonetti also had a touchdown grab.

Class A Central

No. 1 Red Bank Catholic 45, St. John Vianney 0

Sophomore quarterback Eddie Hahn ran for a 28-yard touchdown and threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to junior tailback Mike Cordova, who also had a two-yard touchdown run and an interception on defense, as the Caseys (3-0, 2-0) blanked the Lancers (1-2, 0-2).

Senior tailback Larry Redaelli had touchdown runs of 30 and 48 yards and rolled up over 170 yards on the ground. Senior Andrew Porzio added a 5-yard touchdown run, and Pat Toomey had a 30-yard field goal in the win.

No. 7 Rumson-FH 41, Holmdel 7

Junior tailback Charlie Volker ran for 133 yards and two  touchdowns on 13 carries, all in the first half, as the Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0) blew out to a 28-0 lead at the break on their way to topping the Hornets (1-2, 0-1).

Jamie Reeves added 72 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, fullback Dylan Zohn and wideout Sam Shaud each added 3-yard touchdown runs, and wide receiver Melquan Reevey had three catches for 64 yards, including a touchdown grab from quarterback Chase Caruso.

Manasquan 42, Raritan 3

In his first game after taking over for injured starter Will Pezzollo, senior quarterback Tucker Caccavale threw three touchdown passes as the Warriors (2-1, 1-1) routed the Rockets (0-3, 0-1).

Senior tailback Joe Murphy ran for over 150 yards and a touchdown, and junior James McAlary had touchdown runs of 62 and 25 yards for his first varsity scores in his first season since coming over from the soccer team. Kieran Preston, Matt Paturzo and Tanner Cowley each had touchdown catches, and Matt Forst and Joe Fittin spearheaded a strong defensive effort.

Class A South

Southern 35, Toms River North 7

Senior tailback Rob Yaiser ran for three touchdowns and quarterback Logan Sheehan added a touchdown pass to Grant Bissey to help the Rams (2-1, 1-1) bounce back from a loss by cruising past the Mariners (0-3, 0-2).

No. 10 Brick 47, No. 8 Toms River South 21

Junior tailback/linebacker Ray Fattaruso had a sensational all-around game, rushing for 112 yards and three touchdowns, throwing a 30-yard touchdown pass to Mike Muratore on a halfback option, and registering three sacks and two other tackles for a loss on defense to help the Green Dragons (2-1, 2-0) pick up a big divisional win by handing the Indians (2-1, 1-1) their first loss.

Junior quarterback Carmen Sclafani also was stellar with 145 yards rushing, a pair of touchdown runs, and a 10-yard touchdown pass to junior wideout Joe Phillips as Brick amassed 409 yards of total offense.

Junior quarterback Tymere Berry ran for a pair of touchdowns and senior fullback Otis Kearney added an 11-yard touchdown run in the loss for the Indians.

Jackson Memorial 35, Brick Memorial 7

Tailback Khani Glover ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns, including a 65-yard touchdown run, as the Jaguars (2-0, 2-0) continued their strong start by rolling past the Mustangs (1-2, 0-2).

Quarterback Joe DeMaio added a touchdown throw to senior Marcus Ademilola in the win.

Class B North

No. 6 Ocean 7, Ocean 3

Junior quarterback Royal Moore threw a 55-yard touchdown to sophomore tailback Tyler Thompson on a screen pass with 2:56 left in the game as the Spartans (3-0, 2-0) picked up an important divisional win, one week after knocking off Neptune 7-0 with a fourth-quarter touchdown by Thompson.

Senior kicker Mike Creamer had a 26-yard field goal in the loss for the Huskies (2-1, 1-1).

Wall 44, Freehold 7

Senior running back Pete Miceli ran for a career-high four touchdowns, and Cadell Kennedy added a 3-yard touchdown run as the Crimson Knights (3-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten by rolling past the Colonials (0-3, 0-2).

Senior quarterback Jack Gifford chipped in with a 20-yard touchdown pass to wideout Chris Quinlan, and Phil Shields nailed a 31-yard field goal in the win.

Josh Dixon had a 3-yard touchdown run in the loss for Freehold.

Class B South

No. 9 Barnegat 24, Msgr. Donovan 18

Senior tailback A.J. Opre had touchdown runs of 4 and 15 yards, junior quarterback Cinjun Erskine added a 1-yard touchdown run, and Ryan Ulrich hit a 21-yard field goal as the Bengals (3-0, 2-0) never trailed on their way to a big win over the defending division champion Griffins (1-2, 1-1).

Senior Joey Fields had a two-yard touchdown run and a kickoff return for a touchdown, and senior quarterback Vinny Grasso added a two-yard touchdown run in the loss for Monsignor Donovan.

Jackson Liberty 13, Manchester 6

C.J. Bailey returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown to snap a 6-6 tie with 5:25 left in the game and send the Lions (1-2, 1-1) to their first win of the season by edging the Hawks (0-3, 0-2).

Quarterback John Veneziano added a touchdown pass to junior Matt Castronuova in the second quarter in the win.

Senior quarterback Kashaun Barnes threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Shavar Reynolds in the loss for Manchester.

Central 28, Point Boro 0

Senior quarterback Marquis Drumright went 19-for-26 for 235 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score as the Golden Eagles (2-1, 2-0) won their second straight by blanking the Panthers (0-3, 0-2).

Isaiah Akers, who had a career-high 10 catches for 117 yards, caught touchdown passes of 42 and 27 yards, Thomas Koenig added a 36-yard touchdown grab, and Drumright also had a one-yard scoring run. Senior Javon Hardy bounced back from an injury last week to run for 109 yards on 14 carries.

Jesse Brown led the defense with two sacks and two forced fumbles, as Central held Point Boro to only two first downs and minus-two yards in the first half on its way to the win.

Nonconference

Shore 21, Metuchen 14

Fullback Brian Miller scored on a 13-yard touchdown run with 15 seconds left in the game to snap a 14-14 tie and send the Blue Devils (2-1) to a win over the Bulldogs (0-3).

James Murphy scored on a run with 2:42 left in the game and Jake Monteiro's extra point for Shore tied the game at 14. Senior quarterback Matt Muh added a touchdown run in the first half.
