Former Rivals Share The Spotlight [AUDIO]

The Gateway Toyota Coaches Corner on 105.7 The Hawk and the Shore Sports Network Wednesday will highlight two teams that at one time were bitter Thanksgiving Day rivals. Central and Lacey will be featured during a live broadcast from Martell’s Waters Edge in Bayville. The weekly one-hour radio show covers Shore Conference Football and is hosted by Kevin Williams, Ed Sarluca and Bob Badders.

Appearing on the show will be Lacey Hall of Fame coach Lou Vircillo and seniors Coleton Klaus and Jason Giresi who have led the Lions to a 6-2 record and a spot in the SJ Group 3 playoffs.

Golden Eagles second-year coach Justin Fumando has guided Central into the SJ Group 4 playoffs and with a win this weekend would clinch at least a share of the Class A South championship. Senior Ryan Emmets and sophomore Kavon Chambers will represent the Golden Eagles, as well.

Martell’s Waters Edge is usually only open on Friday and Saturday during the off-season but invites Lacey and Central parents and boosters to come Wednesday as a special menu will be available for those who want to show their support.
