"I just want to say thanks to the administration and the Board (of Education) for giving me the opportunity to coach at Holmdel, and I am grateful for the chance to coach a great group of kids,'' Papalia said.

Papalia, who was the defensive coordinator for the Hornets before ascending to the head job in 2009, finished with a record of 14-36 in five seasons with Holmdel. The Hornets finished 3-7 this past fall.
