Officer Michael A. Dotro, 35, was arrested at his Manalapan home and charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated arson.

Dotro, who has been a cop in Edison for nine years, was suspended from his job with pay. Bail has been set at $5 million.

The investigation began when Monroe Township police were called to the home of Captain Mark Anderko overnight into Monday. Officials extinguished a fire at the home within 10 to 15 minutes and quickly determined that the fire had been intentionally set outside the home. It caused extensive damage.

Anderko, his wife, two children and elderly mother were home at the time of the fire, but were not injured.

A $20,000 reward was offered earlier this week for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
