Donovan Catholic High School Athletic Director Joe Gomulka has announced the school will add Field Hockey to its athletic program beginning with the 2016 fall season. Gomulka has filed the necessary paperwork with the NJSIAA and Shore Conference for the Griffins to establish a program for next fall. In all likelihood they will field a varsity team only for 2016 who will compete as an independent and not be eligible for a divisional title (Donovan Catholic is in Class B South for most sports). However the Griffins would be eligible for the Shore Conference and NJSIAA Tournaments.

While most of the outdoor athletic fields are located off campus, the field hockey facility will be near the football field and will be completely renovated this spring. The field will have all new sod along with lighting for night games and it could be used to host soccer and lacrosse in the future.

Gomulka added that the school is now beginning the search for coaches to fill the staff for next fall.
