Debbie Schwartz, who won 501 games in 25 seasons as the head coach at Toms River East has been hired as the girl’s softball coach at Monsignor Donovan High School.

Schwartz’s tenure at East included 19 Class “A South” titles, nine Ocean County Tournament championships, three Shore Conference Tournament crowns and a pair of state sectional titles in 2006 and 2007.   She had to step down as coach of the Raiders because of a change in policy by the Toms River Board of Education which prohibits supervisors or administrators from coaching.  Schwartz has been a Supervisor of Instruction since 2006.

It completes an interesting change of schools as Schwartz will replace one of her former players Meghan Wood at Donovan.  Ironically just last week Wood was hired to fill Schwartz’s position at High School East.  The Griffins were 12-9 last year while the Raiders were 25-4
