NJSIAA TOURNAMENT

Non-Public A Semifinals

2-Seton Hall Prep 15, 3-CBA 3

The Colts hung with the high-scoring Pirates for one quarter but Seton Hall Prep erupted in the middle quarters with a 12-1 run that sent them to the state final while ending CBA's best season in 10 years.

Senior midfielders Luke Valentino and Kevin Junquet and junior attackman Connor Macrae scored once while senior goalie Chris Downey made 14 saves, but it wasn't nearly enough to overcome the Pirates. Notre Dame-bound Griffin Westlin fired in three goals and added five assists, Cole Kirst also had a hat trick to go along with four assists and Luke Blanc had three goals and one assist to give Seton Hall Prep its rematch with Delbarton in the Non-Public A championship game.

Seton Hall Prep led 2-1 after the first 12 minutes and then held a 6-1 advantage at halftime. An eight-goal third quarter by the Pirates put the game away.

CBA finishes the 2018 season with a 19-2 record, winning its most games in at least 14 years. The Colts won another Class A North division title, reached the Shore Conference Tournament championship game for the first time since 2009 and advanced to the state semifinals for the first time since 2008.
