Bryan Batchler will not return as head coach of Rumson-Fair Haven's football team.

Batchler, who has been a math teacher at the high school since the 2008-2009 school year, was placed on paid administrative on since Dec. 14 for reasons not disclosed by either Batchler or the Rumson-Fair Haven Board of Education.

On Feb. 2, the website redbankgreen.com reported Batchler would be replaced at the next board of education meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday night. Rumson-Fair Haven Regional Superintendent Peter Righi prepared a statement that read:

"A current personnel matter has caused the Board of Education to seek a football coach. The Board of Education does not have the ability to comment on that personnel matter. Our Board is acting in the best interest of our students and the program. Out of season actives, college recruitment and planning and other preparations for next season make it necessary to have a person in the position of head football coach at this time."

Righi would not name the person being recommended.

Batchler declined comment when reached Monday.

Batchler went 30-6 over three years and is the only Shore Conference head coach to win state sectional championships in each of his first three seasons. The Bulldogs went 10-2 this past season and defeated rival Red Bank Regional 21-0 to win the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III title.

Batchler succeeded former head coach and current Holmdel athletic director Shane Fallon in 2013 after several years as a Rumson assistant coach.
