Brick’s American Legion State Playoff Run Comes to an End

Brick Post 348, which is comprised of the players from the Brick Township Green Dragons, had its strong state playoff run come to an end on Tuesday, but is still alive in the Ocean County American Legion county tournament.

American Legion District 3 State Playoffs

Bordentown 16, Brick Post 348 9

The Brick Post 348 state run ended on Tuesday in a slugfest against Bordentown Post 26.

Brick was down 2-0 after two innings but scored 4 runs in the top of the third to take a 4-2 lead thanks to RBI singles by Matt Stadelberger and Jerry Hutchison. Bordentown rallied to take a 5-4 lead in bottom of the fourth, but Brick tied it up on another RBI single by Hutchison that brought home A.J. Serrino.

Tito Morales pitched five solid innings for Brick until Bordentown scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out to a 9-5 lead. Brick fought back with two runs in the seventh thanks to key hits by Serrino, Justin Santiago and Jake Scott that cut it to 9-7.

However, the culmination of four straight days of nine-inning games took its toll on the Dragons' staff as the Bordentown bats scored five in the bottom of the seventh and two more in the eighth to pull away. Brick added two runs in the top of the ninth on RBI singles by Scott and Ken Bala for the final margin.
