Brick Post 348 is still alive in the American Legion District 3 State Tournament heading into Tuesday's action, while the Ocean County American Legion double-elimination tournament got underway on Monday with a three teams picking up wins.

Brick Post 348 (15) Atco Post 311 (5) (7 innings)

Brick Post 348 bounced back from a tough defeat on Sunday with a 15-5 win over Atco Post 311 on Monday to stay alive in the American Legion District 3 State Tournament. Brick has a tough challenge ahead of them on Tuesday as they must win two games to advance to the quarterfinal round this weekend at Moody Park in Ewing.

Matt Stadelberger pitched a complete game in the win to lead the way on the mound. A.J. Serrino had two doubles and three RBI, Jake Scott had a two-run double, and Nic Chirichello scored three runs to lead the Post 348 offense.

Brick will face the winner of Bordentown Post 26 and Sussex Post 213 at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Should they win that game, they will play either Brooklawn Post 72 or Broad Street Park Post 313 immediately following and have to win both games to advance to the Final 8.

Game #1; #1 Point Pleasant Boro (7) - Seaside Post 351 (4)

Point Boro beat Seaside to reach the quarterfinal round of the winner's bracket, as sophomore Thomas Paul pitched a complete game, striking out eight in the win.

The Panthers put up three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-out, three-run double by Paul. Seaside Post tied the game at three with a pair of runs in the second inning, but Pt. Boro answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Mike Falconetti that brought home Paul and John Duggan.

Game 2: #5 Mystic Island Post 493 (3), #4 Lacey (2)

Jared Miller went the distance on the mound and Tommy Allen hit a key go-ahead RBI single in the fifth in the win for Mystic Island Post 493.

Game 3: #6 Donovan Catholic (4) - #3 Toms River North (3)

Nick Povos pitched a complete game six-hitter for Donovan, striking out eight and walking one in the win.

In the third inning, Donovan Catholic's P.J. Armstrong had a two-out, two-run double, and Tommy Smith followed with an RBI single that scored Gerald Russo.

In the fifth inning, Russo laid down a suicide squeeze bunt to score Nick Demaio with what turned out to be the winning run.

Jeff Ciervo hit a long two-run homer in the sixth for Toms River North to make it a one-run game. Pavoa struck out the final two hitters on six pitches in the seventh inning to seal the win for Donovan.
