No. 7 Rumson-Fair Haven 2, St. John Vianney 1

Senior Matt Maisto scored the tying goal in the 29th and senior Dean Criscitiello added the go-ahead goal in the 35th to help the Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0) beat the Lancers (1-3, 1-2) for their fifth straight win to open the year.

Sophomore Jeremy Nives found Maisto with a through-ball to set up the first goal, and senior Ben Cooper set up the second goal with a long throw-in.

Senior David Kamenar scored the lone St. John Vianney goal on an assist from junior Kyle Tuschmann, which gave the Lancers a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.

Matawan 1, Raritan 1

Sophomore Tommy Savin scored off a deflected cross by senior Chris Medina in the 24th minute to tie the game and junior goalkeeper Chad Santopadre saved eight shots - including seven in the second half and overtime - to help the Rockets (1-2-2, 0-1-2) tie the unbeaten Huskies (3-0-1, 2-0-1). The draw was the second in as many days for Raritan, which went the full 100 minutes against Holmdel on Tuesday.

Junior Jacob Labinger opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a 25-yard strike to the far right corner of the goal, giving Matawan a 1-0 lead.

Manasquan 4, Holmdel 1

The Warriors (3-2, 1-1) erupted for four second-half goals and rolled to a win over the Hornets (1-2-2, 0-2-1). Seniors Mike Howell, Beau Bradley, Kevin Dempsey and Thomas McGill all found the back of the net in the second half, with McGill also adding an assist.

Nick Saizan scored the lone Holmdel goal.

 

Class A South

Jackson Memorial 5, Brick 1

No. 6 Toms River North 2, Brick Memorial 2

Sophomore James McCombs scored the equalizer on a diving header in the 71st minute, a minute after junior Mitch Reed gave Toms River North the lead with a goal, to tie the game and the Mustangs (1-1-1, 1-0-1) and Mariners (1-1-1, 1-0-1) played to a draw.

Angel Suarez gave Brick Memorial a 1-0 lead in the third minute off a pass from Eddie Seaman and the Mustangs held the lead until the 58th, when Reed scored the first of his two goals.

 

Class B North

Long Branch 4, Neptune 3

Sophomore Hernan Acevedo scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 75th minute to break a 3-3 tie, and the Green Wave (4-1, 1-0) hung on to beat the Scarlet Fliers (3-3, 0-2) in a high-scoring affair. Sophomores Juan Carlos Merino and Venancio Fernandes each added a goal and an assist for Long Branch, with Merino assisting Acevedo's winner.

Senior Vinnie Tremarco scored two goals for Neptune, while classmate Danny Fonrose added the other to help the Scarlet Fliers erase a 2-0 deficit by halftime and fight back to tie the game at 3 as well.

No. 3 Ocean 6, Red Bank 0

Six different Ocean players scored a goal and junior Ian Dwyer assisted two of them as the Spartans (3-0, 2-0) notched three goals in each half to beat the Bucs (1-3, 1-2).

Senior Ryan Wells buried a direct kick from 25 yards out to open the scoring in the 16th minute, followed by a finish on the back post by senior Wadneson Alexis off a cross by Dwyer in the 36th. Senior Marlhens Nasanes capped the first-half scoring by dribbling through the defense and finishing at the net.

Junior Jordan Ornowski brought down a cross from Dwyer and finished in the 67th to give Ocean a 4-0 lead, while freshman James Schutz and senior Jordan Franco each added second-half goals.

Colts Neck 1, Red Bank Catholic 0

Senior Dean Raynor settled a cross from sophomore Chris Strzalkowski just inside the top of the 18-yard box and drilled a shot past diving Red Bank Catholic freshman goalkeeper Andrew Schweizer for the game's lone goal in the 62nd minute and the Cougars (2-1-1, 1-1-0) edged the Caseys (0-2, 0-2). Senior Tice Smith saved two shots to secure the shutout in goal.

 

Class B South

Barnegat 2, Lakewood 0
