Class A North

Manalapan 3, No. 4 Howell 0

Junior Gavin Rodrigues and sophomore Vincent Tuccillo each scored their first varsity goal and senior Ryan Caruso added a goal and an assist as the Braves (6-5-1, 4-2-1) stormed past the Rebels (9-5, 4-3) and into the Shore Conference Tournament. In addition to securing a spot in the SCT, Manalapan also clinched the Class A North public division championship.

Caruso set up Rodrigues for his first goal with a cross into the box in the ninth minute and later scored off a Johnny O'Beirne corner kick to put Manalapan up 2-0 in the 16th. Tuccillo, who also drew the assignment of man-marking Howell center midfielder Rob Saunders, capped the scoring in the first minute of the second half off a through-ball from senior Mike Kuver.

Luke Nelson earned the shutout with eight saves.

No. 2 CBA 4, No. 6 Freehold Twp. 1

Dominic Bellomo scored two first-half goals to ignite the Colts (11-3, 6-1) to a win over the Patriots (7-4-1, 4-3-0) that clinches CBA its fourth consecutive outright Class A North championship. Bellomo headed in a cross from Jack Gill to open the scoring in the 14th minute and bent in a corner kick in the 24th.

Charlie Daly and Luke Pascarella each added second-half goals, with Daly scoring off a pass from Gill in the 45th and Pascarella benefiting from Gill's third assist of the game in the 53rd.

Adam Havens buries a 20-yard strike in the 51st minute to trim the Freehold Township deficit to 3-1.

Middletown South 4, No. 10 Marlboro 1

Alex Sigua scored two goals and the Eagles (7-8, 3-4) rolled past the Mustangs (6-5-2, 2-4-1). Matt Glynn and Matt Cozzi each added a goal and Jonathan Santos assisted two of the goals.

 

Class A Central

Raritan 2, Rumson-Fair Haven 1

Jake Fortune scored both Raritan goals and the Rockets (6-6, 4-2) edged the Bulldogs (1-11, 0-6) to officially qualify for the Shore Conference Tournament.

No. 1 Holmdel 4, Shore 1

Anthony Arena scored two second-half goals to help the Hornets (12-0, 6-0) put away the Blue Devils (5-10, 2-4) and secure their second straight outright Class A Central championship. Ryan Ferguson opened the scoring and Joe Arena followed with Holmdel's second goal before Arena shut the door with his two scores in the second half.

Red Bank Catholic 0, Monmouth 0

 

Class B North

Matawan 2, Neptune 1

Andre Wells and Mal Mehari scored first-half goals and the Huskies (4-8, 2-5) topped the Scarlet Fliers (9-4-1, 4-3-0). Wilby Alfred scored the lone Neptune goal, his 23rd of the season.

St. John Vianney 3, Red Bank 2

Freshman Johnny Troiano scored the golden goal in the first minute of overtime and the Lancers (6-8, 3-4) pulled out a win over the Bucs (4-9, 1-5). The goal was the second of the game for Troiano, who also assisted St. John Vianney's first goal of the game, scored by Armond Valentino.

Jon Paul Valencia scored both Red Bank goals.

Colts Neck 2, Middletown North 1 (OT)

John Farfan scored the golden goal during the first overtime period to send the Cougars (6-6, 4-2) to the Shore Conference Tournament by beating the Lions (4-9, 1-5) on cutoff day.

Brooks Condon took the initial shot on the play and it was cleared off the end-line by a Middletown North defender before Farfan punched it in from inside the six-yard box.

Condon scored the equalizer for Colts Neck in the 47th minute after Middletown North jumped on top with a breakaway goal by Matt Dullin in the fourth minute.

Colts Neck nearly won the game in regulation on a long strike by Condon, but the officials ruled that time expired before the shot made it to the goal frame.

No. 8 Wall 2, No. 5 Ocean 0

Riley Powers scored a pair of goals within a three-minute span early in the second half and the Crimson Knights handed the Spartans their first loss within Class B North.
