Shore Conference Tournament - Bracket

Quarterfinals

(2) CBA 1, (7) Manalapan 0

Matt Thorsheim headed in a cross by Matt Mawson in the 70th minute and the Colts (14-3-1) edged the Braves (10-5-2) to advance to the SCT semifinals for the first time since 2011, when CBA went 21-0.

Thorsheim stumbled on a shot attempt but recovered in time to position himself on the left post as Mawson hammered a cross from the right side in the air. Thorsheim got off a clean header that he tucked inside the upper right corner, ending a scoreless drought of 229 minutes and 29 seconds for the Colts against Manalapan this season.

The shutout for goalkeeper Aedan Boriotti and the defense is the 13th of the season and one away from matching the single-season school record, set in 2011. Manalapan beat CBA, 1-0, in both regular season meetings but could not find the back of the net thanks to the efforts of Boriotti in goal, Tom Lozowski and Scott Misson in the middle of the defense and Tom Judge and Tim Mikulski on the outsides.

CBA will take on No. 6 Toms River South in the semifinals Thursday at Memorial Field in Neptune.

(6) Toms River South 2, (3) Freehold Twp. 1

Toms River South jumped on top in the eighth minute on a goal by Dylan Parks, who headed in a ball from Evan Niemerowski to open the scoring.

Freehold Township pulled even in the 28th on a goal by Chris Hoskins off a cross from Mike Maltese.

Toms River South will play No. 2 CBA in the semifinals on Thursday at Memorial Field in Neptune, a rematch of the 2010 semifinal the last time Toms River South reached the final four of the SCT. Tom River South has not been to the SCT final since 1991 and has never won the tournament.
