Shore Conference Tournament - Bracket

Quarterfinals

(6) Freehold Twp. 2, (19) Jackson Memorial 1 (OT)

Sean O'Donnell headed in a well-placed service by Chris Oricco in the first overtime and the Patriots (11-5-1) overcame an early one-goal deficit to beat the Jaguars (10-8-1) on the golden goal and reach the SCT semifinals Thursday at Central Regional High School.

Jackson Memorial jumped in front on a goal by Mike Schoener in the third minute after the senior dribbled around the defense and cut the ball back to take on goalkeeper josh Nastarowicz.

Freehold Township pulled even in the 62nd minute on a goal by Matt Nastarowicz - a header on a corner kick by Sean O'Donnell.

The Patriots will play No. 2 Marlboro in the front end of Thursday's semifinal double-header - the third meeting between the Class A North rivals this season. Marlboro won the first match and the two teams tied in the second.

Freehold Township will be appearing in the SCT semifinals for the third time in the last nine seasons and the Patriots have won the conference title in each of their prior two appearances.

(1) CBA 4, (8) Matawan 0

Senior Patrick Kollman scored a goal in each half and the Colts (18-1) raced out to a 3-0 halftime lead en route to a win over the Huskies (11-3-3) that catapults the defending champions into the SCT semifinals.

Kollman opened the scoring five minutes into the game and capped the scoring in the 68th minute on the second assist of the game by senior Matt Thorsheim. CBA extended the lead to 2-0 when Thorsheim found sophomore Joe Lozowskie for a goal and senior T.J. Farr made it 3-0 four minutes before halftime on a feed by senior Ryan O'Connor.

CBA will play No. 5 Toms River North in the second game of Thursday's semifinal double-header at Central Regional. CBA defeated Toms River North, 5-0, in last year's SCT round of 16 at CBA.

(2) Marlboro 4, (7) Middletown North 0

Senior Steven Karp tallied a goal and two assists and the Mustangs (16-1-1) pulled away late and blanked the Lions (12-4-1) to reach the SCT semifinals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2009.

Both Ryan LaRocca and Karp scored on one-time finishes - LaRocca in the 22nd and Karp in the 64th. LaRocca one-timed a corner kick by Karp to open the scoring, striking Karp's ball to the near side of the box to the far corner of the goal.

Junior Brian Dates set up Karp's goal that made it 2-0, ripping a cross from the right endline to the back post, where Karp volleyed the ball out of the air, over his head and into the far corner of the net.

Senior Brett Easton struck three minutes after Karp scored, chipping a 16-yard shot to the far right corner of the net following a free kick by Karp and a touch by Josh Grun.

Senior Jared Markowitz tacked on a goal in the final 30 seconds on a pass from senior Dan McGrath.

James Weinberg preserved his shutout with a leaping save on an upper-90 shot with four minutes left to play - the only strenuous test of Weinberg's range in the game.

Middletown North played without junior forward and team assist leader Liam McGregor, who injured his leg in Saturday's win over Asbury Park.

Marlboro will play No. 6 Freehold Township in Thursday's semifinal.

(5) Toms River North 5, (20) Holmdel 0

Senior Mitch Reed recorded a hat trick and Anthony McNulty added two goals as the Mariners (13-4) bombarded the Hornets (8-6-2) in a Shore Conference Tournament game for the second straight year.

Four of Toms River North's five goals came on throw-ins by senior Joe Swanton and Reed took on the defense and finished for the third Toms River North goal - which came in the 21st minute.

Toms River North beat Holmdel, 6-0, in last year's SCT opening round, giving the Mariners an 11-0 head-to-head advantage over Holmdel in SCT games over the last two years.

Like last year, Toms River North's reward for dominating Holmdel is a date with defending champion CBA, which defeated Toms River North, 5-0, in last year's SCT round of 16.
