Jackson Memorial 3, Brick 0

Senior Mike Schoener scored in the sixth minute to open the scoring and the Jaguars (3-1-1, 2-0-0) added two more to beat the Green Dragons (1-2, 0-2) and remain unbeaten in A South. Senior Tyler Kessler scored the second Jackson Memorial goal and Andrew Jozwicki capped the scoring in the 49th.

Toms River East 3, Lacey 2

Josh Sommerer recorded a hat trick in the first half and the Raiders (1-2, 1-1) held off the Lions (1-3, 0-2) for their first win of the season. Robert Biele scored to open the scoring for Lacey and later assisted Fred Ciampa's goal in the final seconds of the first half.

No. 3 Toms River South 1, Southern 0

Val Munkacsi scored off a pass from Ryan Shiffer in the 39th minute and the Indians (3-0, 2-0) held on to beat the Rams (2-2, 0-2) and remain unbeaten.

No. 7 Toms River North 6, No. 6 Brick Memorial 2

Junior Joey Hertgen recorded a hat trick and the Mariners (3-1, 2-0) continued their red-hot goal-scoring in handing the Mustangs (3-1, 1-1) their first loss of 2014. Senior Ryan Cheslock also scored two goals in the first half and senior Lee Scheck capped the scoring in the 72nd.

After Alejandro Fernandez scored off a Kevin Simek corner kick to give Brick Memorial a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute, Hertgen and Cheslock combined to score four goals in a span of 10:18 from the 21st minute to the 31st, giving Toms River North a 4-1 lead.

Simek converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute to trim the Mariners lead to 4-2 and had a chance to make it 4-3 with a point-blank look, but senior goalkeeper Brian Brannagan smothered the chance to preserve the two-goal lead.

Since losing 4-0 to Kearny in its opener, Toms River North has scored 13 goal during its three-game winnings streak.

 

Class B Central

Ranney at Mater Dei Prep - PPD, Sept. 29, 3:45 p.m.

St. Rose 2, Point Beach 1

Sophomore Anthony DeMaio scored the winning goal in the second half and the Purple Roses (2-2, 2-0) edged the Garnet Gulls (0-3, 0-2). Senior Matt Frost opened the scoring to give St. Rose a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

Shore at Henry Hudson - PPD, Wednesday, 4 p.m. at Shore

Asbury Park 5, Keyport 1

Carl Cazeau scored two goals and the Blue Bishops (1-2, 1-0) broke an early 1-1 tie to pull away and beat the Red Raiders (1-1, 1-1). Junior Marcelin, Alberto Moreno and Gamal Ganthier each added a goal for Asbury Park, while Joe Froncek scored the Keyport equalizer in the 13th minute after Marcelin gave the Bishops an early lead with his goal in the first.

 

Class B South

Pinelands 6, Manchester 0

Senior Rabi Orellana had a hat trick in the first half and two assists and Matt O'Connell tacked on two goals of his own before halftime as the Wildcats (1-1, 1-1) rolled to a win over the Hawks (0-5, 0-2). Paul Cardillo added a goal in the second half for Pinelands.

No. 10 Central 2, Point Boro 0

Senior Blake Czajkowski scored to open the scoring in the first half off a feed from Shane Cranstoun and sophomore Youseff Abdelaziz added a second-half goal off a Doug Jensen assist as the Golden Eagles (3-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten and unscored-upon with a win over the Panthers (1-2, 1-1).

Barnegat 3, Lakewood 0

Jackson Liberty 2, Donovan Catholic 1

Seniors Brandon Pirog and Adam Haidi each scored a goal and the Lions (2-1, 2-0) beat the Griffins (2-1, 1-1) in a key early-season B South game.
