Class A North

Freehold Boro 3, Neptune 1

Enrique Mendez and Abelardo Herrera each scored a first half goal and the Colonials (1-2, 1-1) topped the Scarlet Fliers (0-2, 0-2) for their first win of the season.

Neptune cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal by sophomore Mickenna Church in the 49th minute, but conceded an own goal that capped the scoring.

Manalapan 2, Howell 0

Senior Rocky Garretson nailed a 22-yard direct kick in the 56th minute to break a scoreless deadlock and the Braves (1-1, 1-1) beat the Rebels (0-2, 0-2) to give coach Kerry Eisman his first win as head coach.

Junior Quentin Pickering added a goal in the 62nd minute after settling a cross by Jon Karlin and knocking it in.

Senior Ethan Sholom earned the shutout with three saves, including one from point-blank range that kept the game scoreless in the 52nd minute.

No. 1 CBA 1, No. 3 Marlboro 0 (OT)

Senior Patrick Kollman buried a left-footed shot inside the near left post from 12 yards out in the fourth minute of overtime and the Colts (2-0, 2-0) pulled out a road win over the Mustangs (1-1, 1-1) in a battle of Shore Sports Network top-five-ranked teams.

Marlboro goalkeeper James Weinberg saved six shots, including a pair of dangerous strikes by Tom Judge inside the 70th minute. He also saved a low strike to the far right post by CBA senior Ryan O'Connor in the 78th to momentarily preserve the tie.

CBA's defense did not concede a shot on frame, but Marlboro senior P.J. Ringel chipped Colts keeper Aeden Boriotti in the 71st minute, only to watch the shot bounce just wide of the far right post.

No. 7 Colts Neck 6, No. 10 Freehold Twp. 4

Senior Louis Reale recorded a hat trick, senior Christian Saavedra added two goals and the Cougars (2-0, 2-0) beat the Patriots (1-1, 1-1) in a high-scoring A North affair.

Reale scored twice in the first nine minutes and headed in a Chris Strzalkowski corner kick to give the Cougars a 3-1 lead late in the first half.

Senior Kyle Trainor scored to pull Freehold Township within 2-1 and the Patriots pulled within 3-2 thanks to an own goal before the half, but two penalty kicks by Saavedra extended Colts Neck's lead to 5-2.

Senior Andrew DiBella and Adrian Barajas each added a goal for Freehold Township and junior Zach Ferchak capped the Colts Neck scoring by stealing the ball from a Patriots defender and converting to make it 6-3.

 

Class A Central

Matawan 1, Holmdel 0

Senior Tyler Walling scored the game's lone goal in the second half and the Huskies (2-1, 2-1) and goalkeeper Ethan Goldenthal earned a shutout against the Hornets (1-1, 1-1).

No. 5 Shore 1, Raritan 1

Senior Matt Dutra gave Shore (1-0-2, 1-0-1) the lead going into the half, but Raritan senior Dan Del Russo scored on a pass from Nick Benoit midway through the second half to even the score and earn the Rockets (2-0-1, 1-0-1) a draw with the Blue Devils.

Shore goalkeeper Chris Panduri saved 12 shots to keep the Rockets off the board beyond the Del Russo goal while Raritan keeper Chad Santopadre stopped four.

No. 9 Rumson-Fair Haven 1, St. John Vianney 0

Senior Carson Greengrove scored the deciding goal in the 24th minute off a feed from junior Cole Lee and the Bulldogs (1-0, 1-0) blanked the Lancers (0-3, 0-3) for their first official win of the season.

Senior Markar Krikorian stopped five shots to earn the shutout.

 

Class B North

Long Branch 5, Red Bank Catholic 0

Junior Venancio Fernandes scored four goals and the Green Wave (1-1, 1-1) beat the Caseys (0-2, 0-2) for their first win of the season. Sophomore Stiviny Da Silva accounted for the fifth Long Branch goal and junior Renan Acevedo dished out two assists in the win. Carlos Irizarry saved three shots in goal to pick up the shutout.

No. 4 Middletown North 1, No. 6 Wall 0

Senior Ryan Harmon scored the winning goal in the 44th minute on a feed from junior Liam McGregor and the Lions (2-0, 2-0) beat the Crimson Knights (0-2-1, 0-1-1) in a early-season battle for position in the Class B North standings.

Senior goalkeeper Scott Weigel saved four shots to secure the shutout.

No. 8 Ocean 2, Monmouth 1

Sophomores Santieno Harding and James Schutz scored first-half goals and the Spartans (2-0, 2-0) held on to beat the Falcons (0-3, 0-2). Junior Steve Carton assisted Harding's goal and Schutz scored off a feed from fellow sophomore Erick Vasquez.

Sophomore Andrew Wallace finished off a pass from junior Joel Burgos to pull Monmouth within a goal.

Manasquan 3, Middletown South 1

Senior Pat Felsted headed in a corner kick by senior Aaron Kocienski in the first minute and the Warriors (2-0, 2-0) scored three times in the first 25 minutes on the way to a win over the Eagles (1-1-1, 0-1-1).

Freshman Frank Manno gave Manasquan a 2-0 lead off a flicked header by junior Ryan Flanagan and senior Dan Del Guercio capped the Warriors scoring by drilling a 30-yard direct kick.

Senior Jake Skribner got Middletown South on the board in the second half by burying a direct kick.
