Shore Conference Tournament Semifinals
At Summerfield Elementy Memorial Field

(3) Rumson-Fair Haven 1, (2) Holmdel 0

Senior midfield Matt Dell headed in a corner kick by Harry Gassert in the 77th minute for the game's lone goal and the Bulldogs (16-1-1) edged the Class A Central division rival Hornets (15-2-1) to advance to their first ever SCT final. Rumson will play top-seeded Manalapan on Saturday, 5 p.m. at Memorial Field in Neptune.

Rumson had a chance to jump on top in the third minute of the game, but Holmdel sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Marchiano save a penalty kick by Bulldogs senior Pete Martin to keep the game scoreless. Marchiano made eight saves to help offset a 16-7 Rumson advantage in shots, although the shot disparity eventually caught up to Holmdel.

(1) Manalapan 1, (5) Ocean 0 (OT)

Freshman Rocky Garretson volleyed a corner kick by Ryan Hammer off an Ocean defender, off the crossbar and down over the goal-line for the golden goal in the 86th minute, which gave the Braves (16-2-1) a win over the defending SCT champion Spartans (11-2-5) and put Manalapan in its first SCT final since 2007.

Ocean missed a chance to keep its title defense alive with four minutes left in the second half, when sophomore forward and leading scorer Wadneson Alexis shook loose for an open shot around the penalty spot, but his shot glanced off the left post and away from the frame.

Manalapan last won the SCT title in 2006 and will play a Rumson-Fair Haven program that has never been to a final.
