Central Jersey Group IV

(2) Manalapan 5, (7) Brick Memorial 2

Manalapan scored four unanswered goals in the final 25 minutes to overcome a 2-1 deficit and the Braves pulled away to beat the Mustangs and advance to Monday's sectional semifinals Monday against No. 6 Hunterdon Central.

Junior Ayush Mittal scored two equalizers, including the game-tying goal in the 55th minute to tie the game at 2. He also tied the game at 1 in the first half by beating a defender and slotting a shot inside the near right post.

Junior Mitchel Volis scored the game-winning goal off a through ball from senior Rob Pratka in the 62nd minute. Pratka scored three minutes later off a Volis corner kick and touch from sophomore Rocky Garretson to make the score 4-2.

Hammer capped the scoring in the 70th minute by one-timing a pass from Adam Weisberger into the goal from six yards out. Pratka, Volis and Weisberger played a combination that ended with Volis crossing the ball to Weisberger on the near left post and the senior sliding it over to Hammer for the goal.

Brick Memorial scored in the first three minutes of each half to grab two seperate one-goal leads. Bryan Malerba scored in the third minute of the game to stake the Mustangs to an early 1-0 lead and the senior striker then played Kevin Simek through with a pass in 2:30 into the second half that Simek finished for a 2-1 Brick Memorial lead.

Manalapan will seek to pay back Hunterdon Central, which eliminated Manalapan in last year's Central Jersey Group IV semifinals at Hunterdn Central.

(6) Red Bank 1, (3) Hightstown 0

Chris Funetes pushed up out of his outside fullback position and scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute as the Bucs edged the Rams to advance to the Central Jerey Group III semifinals for the first time since 2007.

Red Bank will play the winner of Friday's game between No. 2 Steinert and No. 7 New Brunswick in Monday's sectional semifinals.

 

Central Jersey Group II

South Jersey Group IV

(5) Toms River North 1, (4) Eastern 0

Nick Hund scored in the 64th minute and the Mariners held on to edge the Vikings and set up a showdown with top-seeded Rancocas Valley in Monday's sectional semifinals.

 

South Jersey Group III

(8) Pinelands at (1) Ocean City - PPD, Friday, 2 p.m.

(2) Toms River South 4, (10) Oakcrest 1

The Indians scored three second-half goals to break a 1-1 halftime tie and pull away with a win over the Falcons. Toms River South will host the sectional semifinal Monday against the winner of Friday's game between No. 6 Mainland and No. 14 Seneca.

Jordan Urbaczek scored early in the second half off a pass from Ryan Shiffer to give the Indians the lead for good. John Timmes added a goal off a feed from Tyler Egnatuk and Francesco LoScrudato capped the scoring with a 25-yard strike.

Kieran Murphy scored off a pass from Cameron Geerinck to open the scoring and give Toms River South a 1-0 lead before Joe Paone equalized for Oakcrest 15 minutes later.
