Shore Conference Tournament - Bracket

Round of 16

(4) Ocean 3, (20) Central 0

Senior Wadneson Alexis scored on a shot to the far right corner of the goal from 20 yards out in the ninth minute and assisted an insurance goal by junior Cosimo Franze in the 72nd to help the Spartans put away the Golden Eagles. Ocean will host the winner of Saturday night's game between No. 5 Wall and No. 12 Jackson Memorial.

Freshman Santino Harding slammed home the third Ocean goal in the 75th with a left-footed shot from six yards out after Franze played him the ball across the box. Ocean put the game on ice in the final 10 minutes after hitting the crossbar and a post two times each and also having two potential goals disallowed - one because the referee held up play to properly spot the ball on a direct kick from 20 yards out and another for an offsides call.

Senior goalkeeper Yianni Kavarakas saved three shots to earn the shutout, including a diving save in the 64th minute on a shot from the six-yard marker. Central goalkeeper Tom Ruscitti kept the deficit at 1-0 with a pair of saves on strikes by senior Marlhens Nasanes and later one by Alexis that Ruscitti parried off the crossbar and covered up near the goal.

(1) Shore 3, (17) Long Branch 1

J.T. Kessler scored the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute and the Blue Devils beat a Green Wave team that played short-handed for the final 33 minutes to advance to the SCT quarterfinals for the second straight year.

Dante Montesinos scored two goals, including a goal five minutes before halftime to open the scoring and a penalty kick in the final minute.

Hernan Acevedo scored the equalizer for Long Branch shortly after a second yellow card left the Green Wave a man down.

(3) Freehold Twp. 2, (19) Colts Neck 1

Mark Fasano assisted a goal by Nick Facendo and later scored one to help the defending champion Patriots edge the Cougars.

Fasano slid a deflected pass to Facendo, who scored from just inside the penalty spot in the 16th minute. Fasano gave Freehold Township a 2-0 lead in the 65th after Chris Hoskins won a ball in the air to set him up inside the six-yard box.

Colts Neck scored on an own goal in the 74th minute and it took a save by goalkeeper Mike Christina in the final minute that he pushed up over the crossbar for Freehold Township to survive in regulation.

(6) Toms River South 2, (11) Marlboro 0

Dylan Parks scored 13 minutes into the match and Cameron Geerinck converted a penalty kick in the 63rd to help the Indians top the Mustangs and advance to the quarterfinals.

Parks collided with goalkeeper James Weinberg before composing himself and tapping in the first goal. A handball in the box gave Geerinck a chance from the penalty spot, which he drilled to the left side of the goal.

(2) CBA 5, (15) Toms River North 0

Patrick Kollman scored his second hat trick of the season and the Colts rolled to a win over the Mariners to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2011.

Kollman also assisted a goal by Matt Thorsheim that gave CBA a 2-0 lead in the 38th minute. Tom Judge scored the third CBA goal before Kollman capped his hat trick in the second half.

CBA will host Manalapan on Tuesday in the quarterfinals, seeking its first win over the Braves after losing both regular-season meetings between the Class A North rivals.

(7) Manalapan 2, (10) Lacey 0

Rocky Garretson scored on a pass from Miles Schindler in the 11th minute and Mitchel Volis tacked on a scored in the 60th on a direct kick as the Braves upended the Lions to advance to the SCT quarterfinals.

(9) Middletown North 1, (8) Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Ryan Harmon hammered home a goal four minutes before the half off an initial shot on goal by Anthony Chiaino and the Lions held on to beat the Bulldogs for their seventh straight win. Middletown North will take on No. 1 Shore in Tuesday's quarterfinal.

(5) Wall 0, (12) Jackson Memorial 0 (Wall advances in penalties, 3-1)

Reilly Barcas drilled a shot to the upper part of the goal to end the shootout round and propel the Crimson Knights part the Jaguars and into the SCT quarterfinals after 100 scoreless minutes. Wall will face Ocean on Tuesday in the quarterfinals after the two Class B North rivals split the regular-season series.

Jim Byrnes and Zach Ferry also converted their attempts for Wall in the round of kicks. Nolan Cloney did not save a shot in the shootout, instead watching two of Jackson Memorial's attempts sail wide. The shutout was the 13th of the season for Cloney, who saved four shots during the game.

Jackson Memorial goalkeeper Nick Kinzler also saved four shots to earn the shutout for the Jaguars.
