Senior defender Jordan Vance punched in the game-winning goal in the 74th minute and the No. 2 seed and defending champion Manalapan survived a quarterfinal battle with No. 7 Jackson Memorial to advance to their second straight SCT semifinals.

With the score tied at 1, senior Rob Pratka was first to a corner kick by Ryan Hammer and touched it to Vance for the finish. Jackson Memorial had tied the game in the 65th minute on a penalty kick by sophomore Mike Schoener.

Manalapan opened the scoring in the 52ndd minute on a goal by junior Joe Ahn, a 25-yard strike to the upper part of the netting.

Manalapan will play Shore Conference Class A North division rival and No. 11 Freehold Township in Thursday'ss first semifinal, scheduled for 5 p.m. at Memorial Field in Neptune. Manalapan won the first meeting, 2-0, and the teams played to a scoreless draw in the more recent match.
