NJSIAA Non-Public A Final

At Kean University

Delbarton 2, CBA 0

John Gerard scored in the seventh minute and Bobby Fabricant added another in 14th as the Green Wave (23-1) rode a fast start to a win over the Colts (19-4-1), clinching their fourth straight Non-Public A championship.

Gerard won the ball in the CBA third, took the ball to the left side of the 18-yard box and chipped the ball over Colts goalkeeper Aedan Boriotti and into the far right corner of the net 6:41 into the match.

Fabricant took a pass from Charles Cadena in the middle of 18-yard box and drilled a shot to the right corner of the goal from 12 yards out.

After conceding a 7-1 shot advantage without much play in the midfield, CBA turned the corner in the second half with a 7-3 edge in shots. The Colts, however, could not crack the Delbarton defese, led by senior center back Jack Kielty. Sunday's shutout was the 17th clean sheet for the Green Wave this season.

Senior Tim Mikulski had CBA's two closest calls, both of which were parried over the crossbar by goalkeeper Santiago Robertson-Lavelle. The first was a deflected shot in the 21st minute and the other came midway through the second half. Junior Matt Thorsheim also boomed a clean shot from 25 yards that sailed high within a foot of the crossbar.

CBA played the majority of the game without junior center back Scott Misson, who left with a hip injury shortly after Delbarton went up 2-0.

Sunday marks the final game in the career of CBA coach Dan Keane. In 38 seasons as Colts coach, Keane has won five Non-Public A titles and nine Shore Conference Tournament championships while amassing a record of 545-153-41.
