Central Jersey Group IV

(7) Brick Memorial 3, (10) Sayreville 1

Kevin Simek scored two goals on direct kicks and Bryan Malerba scored the game-winner in the 47th minute as the Mustangs overcame an early 1-0 deficit to beat the Bombers and advance to the sectional quarterfinals Thursday at No. 2 Manalapan.

(2) Manalapan 7, (15) Freehold 1

Ryan Hammer scored two goals and assisted another during a five-goal first half that propelled the Braves to a rout of the Colonials in the Central Jersey IV first round. Hammer started the barrage with a goal on a Rob Pratka assist in the the sixth minute and Rocky Garretson, Ayush Mittal and Adam Weisberger all added goals by halftime, giving Manalapan a 5-0 lead going to the second half.

Mitchel Volis added a goal and his second assist of the game in the second half and G.J. Lockhart capped the scoring in the 67th. Jack LeMunyon scored the lone Freehold goal.

Manalapan will host No. 7 Brick Memorial Thursday in the sectional quarterfinals.

(9) Freehold Twp. 1, (8) West Windsor-Plainsboro North 0

Jason Czajkowski punched in a corner kick by Mike Maltese in the 55th minute and the Patriots edged the Knights to advance to the quarterfinals Thursday against top-seeded Montgomery. Goalkeeper Brian Shushkovsky earned his 10th shutout of the season.

Freehold Township has won five straight games - all by one-goal margins - and all six goals during that stretch have come from crosses out of one corner or the other.

(6) Hunterdon Central 2, (11) Colts Neck 1

Kevin Colonna scored a second-half goal to pull Colts Neck within a goal, but the Cougars fell short against the defending sectional champion Red Devils. Hunterdon Central will travel to No. 3 South Brunswick in the sectional quarterfinals.

(4) Monroe 3, (13) Marlboro 1

Junior P.J. Rengel buried a 25-yard strike to equalize early in the second half, but the Falcons pulled away to top the Mustangs. Monroe will host No. 5 East Brunswick in the sectional quarterfinals on Thursday.

 

Central Jersey Group III

(9) Hopewell Valley 4, (8) Middletown North 1

Jimmy Wilson recorded a hat trick to go with one assist and the Bulldogs beat the Lions to advance to a quarterfinal match with top-seeded Princeton. Ryan Harmon scored the lone Middletown North goal off an assist from Jim Kelly.

(12) Long Branch 1, (5) Wall 0

Guilherme DeNovaes tapped in a pass from Gregory Borba 2:39 into the game and the Green Wave held on to knock off the Crimson Knights and advance to a sectional quarterfinal road match against defending champions and fourth-seeded Allentown.

Wall won both regular-season meetings between the Class B North rivals and defeated the Green Wave on penalty kicks in the Shore Conference Tournament.

(4) Allentown 5, (13) Jackson Liberty 0

(6) Red Bank 2, (11) Northern Burlington 1

Justin Gilson and Justin Delaney each scored a goal and the Bucs outlasted the Greyhounds to advance to the sectional quarterfinals at No. 3 Hightstown.

(7) New Brunswick 4, (10) Ocean 1

After a scoreless first half, the Zebras exploded for four goals in the second to beat the Spartans and set up a quarterfinal meeting at No. 2 Steinert. Marlhens Nasanes scored the lone Ocean goal.

 

Central Jersey Group II

(5) A.L. Johnson 3, (12) Monmouth 0

Liam Deacy scored two goals and the Crusaders pulled away to beat the Falcons and advance to the sectional semifinals against No. 13 Governor Livingston.

(13) Governor Livingston 2, (4) Manasquan 1

Erique Perez scored a goal, but the Warriors fell to the Highlanders, who won for just the fifth time this season (5-15) Monday. Governor Livingston will take on No. 5 A.L. Johnson in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

(11) Rumson-Fair Haven 3, (6) Carteret 0

Jamie Martin scored a first-half goal to get Rumson started and the Bulldogs put the game away with two more in the second half to beat the Ramblers and advance to a quarterfinal game Thursday against No. 14 Bordentown.

Paul Criscitiello converted a penalty kick to put Rumson ahead, 2-1, and Mat Maisto capped the scoring with a breakaway goal.

(14) Bordentown 2, (3) Matawan 1

Deni Radoncic scored 4:31 into the game to stake Matawan to an early lead, but the Scotties rallied to stun the Huskies and advance to the sectional quarterfinals Thursday at No. 11 Rumson-Fair Haven.

(7) Holmdel 6, (10) Robbinsville 2

Brendan Wall and Gino D'Agostino scored two goals each to lead the Hornets past the Ravens and into the sectional quarterfinals against No. 2 Delran, which eliminated Holmdel in penalty kicks in the Central Jersey Group II semifinals last season.

Wall also added an assist, while Rob Cerriello and and Hunter Chapman each chipped in a goal and an assist in the win.

(1) Point Boro 3, (16) Raritan 0

Jake Woodring set up a header by Sam Monaco with a free kick 27 seconds into the second half and buried a direct kick less than eight minutes later to pace the Panters to a win over the Rockets. Kenny Fellows added a goal in the 62nd minute off a pass from Dan Nobbs.

Point Boro will host No. 9 North Plainfield in the sectional quarterfinals.

 

Central Jersey Group I

(1) Shore 5, (16) Highland Park 1

Five different Shore players scored a goal and the Blue Devils broke open a scoreless tie at halftime with five second-half goals to down the Owls. Jake Friedland, Dante Montesinos, Lukas Montesinos, Cole Allem and J.T. Kessler each scored a goal for Shore, which will host No. 9 East Brunswick Tech in Thursday's sectional quarterfinal round.

(13) Point Beach 4, (4) South Amboy 0

Aris Papoutsakis scored two goals to go with an assist and the Garnet Gulls stormed past the Governors and into Thursday's sectional quarterfinal at Roselle Park. Johan Rosa and Connor Prima each added a goal for Point Beach.

(7) South Hunterdon 2, (10) Asbury Park 1

Freshman Davensky Joinvilmar scored to stake Asbury Park to a 1-0 halftime lead, but the Eagles rallied to knock out the Blue Bishops and earn a sectional quarterfinal game at No. 2 seed and defending champion New Egypt.

 

South Jersey Group IV

(1) Rancocas Valley 8, (16) Jackson Memorial 0

Luis Rivadeneira and John Weeast scored two goals apiece and the Red Devils routed the Jaguars to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Thursday, when they will host No. 8 Williamstown.

(5) Toms River North 4, (12) Kingsway 0

Nick Hund scored with five minutes left in the first half and the Mariners blew the game open after halftime, downing the Dragons and advancing to the sectional quarterfinals Thursday at No. 4 Eastern.

Joey Hertgen scored off a pass from Ryan Cheslock in the 50th to make it 2-0 and Mitch Reed scored two minutes later off a throw-in by Mike Karpinsky. Andrew Foti capped the scoring off a Rob Cameron assist in the 60th minute.

(2) Washington Twp. 6, (15) Toms River East 0

Derek MacKinnon and Burak Ozdemir each scored two goals and the Minutemen beat the Raiders to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Thursday against No. 7 Clearview.

 

South Jersey Group III

(8) Pinelands 3, (9) Hammonton 0

Matt O'Connell scored twice and Rabi Orellan assisted all three Pinelands goals as the Wildcats blanked the Blue Devils to advance to the Thursday's sectional quarterfinals against top-seeded Ocean City. After O'Connell scored twice to give Pinelands a 2-0 lead, Corey Cusack added another goal before halftime to cap the scoring.

(14) Seneca 1, (3) Central 1 (Seneca advances in penalty kicks, 6-5)

Frank Golda scored the equalizer in the second half, but the Golden Eagles could not score again before the end of the second overtime period and fell to Seneca in a shootout.

(10) Oakcrest 2, (7) Lacey 1

Hunter Dorsey scored off a Robert Biele pass in the second half, but the Lions could not overcome a two-goal halftime deficit in a loss to the Falcons. Oakcrest will play No. 2 Toms River South in Thursday's sectional quarterfinals.

(2) Toms River South 3, (15) Highland 0

Cameron Geerinck opened the scoring in the 13th minute and assisted second-half goals by John Timmes and Kieran Murphy to help lead the Indians to a win over the Tartans and push them into the sectional quarterfinals Thursday against No. 10 Oakcrest.

 

South Jersey Group II

(2) Woodstown 3, (15) Barnegat 1

Brandon Spain scored off a Kyle Heidel pass in the eighth minute to give Barnegat the early lead, but the Wolverines regained the lead just before halftime and held on to beat the Bengals.

Geoff Schaefer scored two goals - one in the 39th minute to give Woodstown the lead and another on a penalty kick in the 79th to put the game away. Woodstown will host No. 7 Haddonfield in Thursday's sectional quarterfinals.

 

South Jersey, Non-Public A

(10) Red Bank Catholic 3, (7) Donovan Catholic 2

John Corcoran scored two minutes into the game and Bryan Andrew and Jack Pelech each added goals as the Caseys outlasted the Griffins to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Thursday against No. 2 Gloucester Catholic.

Matt Dalton scored off a pass from Alec Mapoy a minute after Corcoran to tie the game at 1. Andrew gave Red Bank Catholic the lead for good in the 25th off a Kyle Bates assist and Pelech scored three minutes into the second half to give RBC a two-goal cushion. Connor Grant scored in the 68th to pull Donovan Catholic within a goal.

(6) St. John Vianney 6, (11) Camden Catholic 0

Alex Politi and David Kamenar scored two goals each and the Lancers hammered the Irish to set up a sectional quarterfinal showdown at No. 3 CBA on Thursday. Seniors Kevin Journick and Vincent Ford each scored their first varisty goals in the second half, while senior Will Dinneny added two assists in the win.

 

South Jersey, Non-Public B

(5) St. Rose 4, (12) St. Joseph Hammonton 0

Mike O'Malley, Travis Cloney, Joe Forlenza and Kyle Brueche each scored a goal and the Purple Roses shut out the Wildcats and advance to play at No. 4 Holy Cross in the sectional quarterfinals.

(4) Holy Cross 8, (13) Mater Dei Prep 1
