Senior P.J. Ringel scored on a pass from senior Dan McGrath and the Mustangs (4-1, 3-1) won their third 1-0 game by holding off the Colonials (2-4, 2-2). Senior goalkeeper James Weinberg earned his third clean sheet of the season.

No. 10 Matawan 3, St. John Vianney 2

Senior Tyler Walling struck a shot off a St. John Vianney defender and into the goal in the 95th minute and the Huskies (5-1, 4-1) won their fifth straight by outlasting the Lancers (2-4, 1-4) in overtime.

Seniors Jacob Labinger and John Vail accounted for the first two Matawan goals and senior John Caracappa scored both goals for St. John Vianney.

Raritan 1, Rumson-Fair Haven 0 

Junior Tom Savin drilled an 18-yard strike to the upper part of the goal in the 65th minute and the Rockets (5-0-1, 2-0-1) beat the Bulldogs (1-3, 1-2) to remain unbeaten. Senior goalkeeper Chad Santopadre earned his third shutout of the season.

Class B North

Middletown South 2, Long Branch 1

Junior Andy Segovia and sophomore Nick Cataneo each scored in the first half and the Eagles (3-2-1, 2-1-1) held on to beat the Green Wave (1-4, 1-3). Junior Christian Sigua assisted Segovia's goal that opened the scoring.

Junior Venancio Fernandes scored his sixth goal of the season to cut the Middletown South lead to one in the second half off a pass from junior Renan Acevedo.

Monmouth 1, Red Bank Catholic 0

Senior Joel Burgos scored on a pass from junior Antonio Illiano in the first half and the Falcons (1-5, 1-3) blanked the Caseys (0-5, 0-4) for their first win of the season.

Non-Division

Holmdel 3, Ranney 1

The Hornets (2-1-1) scored three goals in the second half, including the go-ahead goal by sophomore Mark McStay in the 67th minute, to rally from a one-goal halftime deficit and hand the Panthers (5-1) their first defeat of the season.

Junior Mikey Neff scored the equalizer in the 47th minute off a deflected cross from sophomore Anthony Arena. McStay later gave Holmdel the lead when senior Leo Nobrega won the ball from Ranney goalkeeper Noah Ayers and allowed McStay a clean look at the goal from 18 yards out with Ayers off his line.

Arena capped the scoring in the 71st by settling a low cross from Nogbrega and hammering it into the goal.

Ranney grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute on a 25-yard strike to the far right side netting by senior Brendan Wall. The goal was the 10th in six games this season for Wall, who played the first two years of his high school career for Holmdel's varsity team.
