Howell 3, Freehold 2

Sophomore Joe Masino scored the go-ahead goal in the 66th minute and the Rebels (2-2, 2-1) beat the Colonials (0-3-1, 0-3-0) for their second straight win. Freshman Brandon Downey and senior Tyler Johnson also scored a goals for Howell, with Johnson converting a penalty kick to tie the game at 2 five minutes into the second half.

Sophomore Andy Rizo scored both Freehold goals, including a penalty kick in the 22nd minute to put the Colonials ahead, 2-1.

Middletown South 1, No. 4 CBA 0

Sophomore Blake Finlayson scored during the opening minutes of the game and the Eagles (1-4, 1-2) held on to knock off the Colts (2-2, 2-2) and secure their first win of the season.

Finlayson punched in the game's lone goal off a rebound following a throw-in by Liam Davis. Junior Mike Britt headed the thrown toward the goal and CBA goalkeeper David Krall made the initial save before Finlayson swooped in for the goal.

Junior Louis Moure earned the shutout in goal with four key saves that helped Middletown South preserve the one-goal lead.

No. 2 Freehold Twp. 1, Marlboro 0

Senior Kyle Czajkowski scored the golden goal in the third minute of overtime and the Patriots (3-0, 3-0) beat the Mustangs (2-2, 2-2) and become the last Class A North without a loss or tie.

Mike Staklinski sent a corner kick into the box and after Chris Hoskins headed the ball off of Marlboro goalkeeper Brandon Enny, Czajkowski sprinted in and scored the winner off the rebound. 83rd minute.

Bryan DaSilva grazed the crossbar from the top of the 18-yard box in the 65th minute to give Marlboro its best chance to score. Mustangs goalkeeper Greg Reimer made three consecutive saves on on play during the first half, saving a shot and an immediate follow-up by Czajkowski before pushing a one-timed follow by O'Donnell wide of the post. Reimer and Enny split the game in goal, with Enny playing the second half and overtime.

Middletown North 2, No. 1 Manalapan 2

 

Class A Central

Holmdel 3, Raritan 1

Sophomore Brendan Wall scored two goals and assisted another by Gino D'Agostino as the Hornets topped the Rockets (1-2-1, 0-2-0) to climb back to .500. D'Agostino also added an assist in the win.

Senior Ryan Casciani scored the lone Raritan goal.

Matawan 4, Monmouth 1

Senior Alex Cella scored 3:49 before the half and the Huskies (2-1, 1-1) added three second-half goals to pull away with a win over the Falcons (3-1, 1-0). Sophomore Keleb Mehari, senior Matt Isaacson and senior Abisai Gutierrez each scored in the second half to stake Matawan to a 4-0 lead.

Matt Anfuso scored with 31 seconds left to break up the shutout.

Rumson-Fair Haven 1, Manasquan 1

Rumson junior Jamie Martin and Manasquan senior Ed Franzonie traded goals the Bulldogs (0-3-1, 0-1-1) and Warriors (3-1-1, 0-0-1) played to a draw in A Central. Enrique Perez assisted Franzonie's goal and later drilled a shot off the inside of the left post in overtime for the closest call of overtime.

 

Class B North

Ocean 2, Neptune 0

Senior Claudio Martins scored a goal and assisted another by junior Wadneson Alexis to lead the Spartans (2-2, 2-0) to a win over the Scarlet Fliers (1-3-1, 0-2-0). Alexis made his debut after missing Ocean's first three games of the season with a knee injury.

No. 9 Red Bank 3, No. 8 Wall 0

Senior Justin Gilson scored three minutes in the second half and added a second goal in the 72nd to lead a three-goal second half that propelled the Bucs (3-0, 2-0) to a shutout win over the Crimson Knights (2-2, 1-1).

Sam MacPherson sent a deflected pass through the defense and into the 18-yard box, where Gilson tracked it down and finished from the left side to the far post. Justin Delaney knocked in a second Red Bank goal in the 54th off a throw-in from Gilson that junior Michael Colao headed from the near post to Delaney on the far left post.

Gilson capped the scoring by faking out a defender to get to a pass from Dylan Fogerty, touching the ball to the top of the 18-yard box and ripping a left-footed shot off the left post and into the net.

Colts Neck 1, No. 5 Long Branch 0

Senior Colten LaLima fought threw a crowd and scored off a pass from Brian Knauf in the 19th minute for the game's lone goal to give the Cougars (2-2, 1-1) their second straight win while the Green Wave (3-1, 0-1) suffered their first loss.
