Brick Memorial 6, No. 8 Southern 1

Senior Erik Fatovic assisted the first Brick Memorial goal by junior Jake Marren and scored the final two goals as the Mustangs (1-1, 1-1) routed the Rams (0-2, 0-1) for their first win of the season.

Senior Lou Nazarro, junior Ryan Rodriguez and senior Eric O'Doherty each added a goal for Brick Memorial.

Central 5, Brick 0

Senior Mike Cambra and junior Oluwapelumi Ogunyinka each scored two goals and the Golden Eagles (1-1, 1-1) blanked the Green Dragons (0-2, 0-2) for their first win. Angel Mihlon added the final Central goal.

Jackson Memorial 2, No. 2 Toms River South 0

Sophomore Dan Russo scored on a direct kick in the 65th minute to break a scoreless tie and junior Logan Lewis ripped home an insurance goal in the 78th as the Jaguars (3-0, 2-0) beat the Indians (1-1, 1-1) to improve to 3-0.

Russo drew a foul just outside the top of the 18-yard box in the 65th minute and bent a left-footed shot into the upper left corner of the goal to open the scoring. Lewis then struck a shot to the far post the Toms River South sophomore goalkeeper Jalen Folsom deflected with a diving attempt at a save.

Junior goalkeeper Nick Kinzler saved seven shots to earn the shutout, including a pair of diving saves within two minutes of one another in the first half.

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 4, Ranney 2

Senior Mike Ciorlian and juniors Ki Costa and Alex Atno each had a goal and an assist and the Garnet Gulls (1-1, 1-1) topped the Panthers (1-2, 1-1) to get into the win column for the first time this season.

Ciorlian opened the scoring in the third minute and assisted a go-ahead goal by senior Danny Savage in the 50th. Costa gave Point Beach a 3-1 lead on a pass from Atno, who capped the scoring in the 70th on a feed from Costa.

Junior Ademola Odunlami scored both Ranney goals - one to tie the game at 1-1 in the 42nd and another that cut the Point Beach lead to 3-2 in the 60th. Ranney played a man down for the entire second half.

St. Rose 4, Keyport 2

Senior Ethan Riozzi-Bodine scored two goals and senior Dave Calloway tacked on an insurance tally in the 70th minute to help the Purple Roses (2-1, 2-0) hold on to beat the Red Raiders (0-4, 0-2). St. Rose jumped out a 3-0 lead after a pair of goals by Riozzi-Bodine and another by junior Evan Walters in the first half.

Keyport pulled within 3-1 on a goal by sophomore Breandian Greene in the 38th minute and cut the deficit to a single goal on a score by sophomore Sean Matos in the 63rd.

Asbury Park 2, Mater Dei Prep 1 (OT)

Senior Davensky JoinVilmar scored the golden goal with three minutes left in the second overtime period on an assist from Jean Osner Pierre and the Blue Bishops (3-0, 2-0) rallied to edge the Seraphs (0-2, 0-1) and win their third straight game - the second in overtime - to open the season.

Pierre also scored the equalizer in the second half. Senior Nick Zajac gave Mater Dei a 1-0 lead in the first half on a follow-up to an initial shot by senior Matt Carrigy.

 

Class B South

Lakewood 4, Barnegat 2

Senior Japhet Compollo scored the go-ahead goal in the 56th minute and Jersey Salazar's second goal capped the scoring in the 78th as the Piners (3-1, 2-1) pulled past the Bengals (1-2, 0-2).

Compollo's first-half goal gave Lakewood a 2-0 lead in the 13th minute after senior Apolinar Grande opened the scoring in the seventh minute for the Piners.

Ricky Norman scored goals four minutes apart to pull Barnegat even by the 22nd minute, with Ryan Flaherty assisting the first of the two goals.

Donovan Catholic 2, Manchester 1

Brendan Ion scored the ice-breaker in the 32nd minute and senior Nick Maalouf added what proved to be the winning goal in the first minute of the second half off an Oliver Nora assist to lead the Griffins (1-2, 1-1) to a win over the Hawks (1-1, 1-1).

Senior Devin Ortiz cut the Manchester deficit in half with a goal in the 65th minute.

No. 10 Lacey 4, Jackson Liberty 1

Senior Kevin Miller notched a hat trick and junior Kip Byrne ripped a shot off a defender and in to lead the Lacey (1-1, 1-1) to a win over Jackson Liberty (1-2-1, 1-2-0). Matt Campbell scored the lone Liberty goal.

Pinelands 4, Point Boro 1

Juniors Dom Dos Santos and Kieran Sundermann each scored two goals and the Wildcats (3-0, 2-0) beat the Panthers (1-1, 1-1) for their third straight win to open the season.

Junior Anthony Diaz set up the first goal by Sundermann by keeping the ball alive in the box and Frank Aguilar found Dos Santos with a through-ball on the third goal. Junior Aniello Lubrano assisted the other two goals, including the final goal by Sundermann in which he dribbled through four defenders to get off the shot.

Senior Jake Brzyski broke up the shutout in the 58th minute on an assist from junior Liam Kirinovic.

 

Non-Conference

Roselle 6, Henry Hudson 0

Princeton Day 6, Red Bank 1

Junior Jack MacPherson scored the lone goal for the Bucs (0-3), who lost on the road at Princeton Day.
