Robert Biele and Hunter Dorsey each scored a second-half goal and the Lions knocked off the previously unbeaten Indians to snap a six-game winning streak to begin the season. Biele burried a free kick in the 58th minute to break a scoreless tie and then set up Dorsey's goal in the 73rd to put the game out of reach for Toms River South.

 

Class B Central

Ranney 2, Keyport 0

Marc Greenstein and Shane Keenan each scored a goal and the Panthers blanked the Red Raiders.

Henry Hudson 0, Mater Dei Prep 0

Asbury Park 1, Point Beach 0

Freshman Davensky Joinvilmar scored off a pass from Carl Cazeau in the 42nd minute and the Blue Bishops edged the Garnet Gulls, halting their three-game winnings streak.

 

Class B South

Barnegat 7, Manchester 1

Ryan Flaherty and Kidron Stolte combined for seven goals and the Bengals routed the Hawks. Flaherty scored four goals, Stolte added a hat trick and an assist, and Justin Kovacs also added two assists.

Jake Dufner scored in the eighth minute to momentarily cut the deficit to 2-1.

Pinelands 2, Donovan Catholic 1

Rabi Orellana scored a minute before halftime to open the scoring and Matt O'Connell broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 51st as the Wildcats beat the Griffins for their third straight win.

Bryce Grant scored off a feed from Matt Kelly to tie the game for Donovan Catholic three minutes into the second half.

 

Non-Conference

Central 3, Brick 0

Blake Czajkowski scored two goals and Doug Jensen added a goal and an assist to lead the Golden Eagles to a win over the Green Dragons, improving their record against Class A South competition to 2-0.

Point Boro 2, Spotswood 1

Kenny Fellows scored two goals and the Panthers won their fifth straight game by beating the Chargers.

Thursday, Sept. 25

Class A Central

St. John Vianney 1, Manasquan 0

Junior Austin Schlessinger scored the game's lone goal in the 21st minute and the Lancers (2-2, 2-2) edged the Warriors (5-3-1, 2-2-1) in A Central action. Alex Politi beat a defender to the endline on the right side and sent a cross to the front of the goal, where Schlessinger one-timed a shot from 10-yard out to break a scoreless tie.

 

Class B North

Long Branch 1, Red Bank Catholic 0

Victor Joe Pessoa scored 15 minutes into the game and the Green Wave (6-2, 3-2) held off the Caseys (1-5, 1-4) to climb above the .500 mark in Class B North play.
