Sophomore Brandon Downey scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute and the Rebels (2-3-1, 2-3-1) pulled out a win over the Eagles (0-6, 0-5) to snap a three-game winless streak. Shane McBride saved seven shots to earn his second shutout of the season.

No. 9 Manalapan 1, No. 1 CBA 0

Senior Mitchel Volis buried a shot from the left angle in the 60th minute and the Braves (3-2, 3-2) hung on to hand the Colts (6-2, 5-1) their first Class A North loss of the season. Senior Ayush Mittal ran onto a ball down the middle of the field and after CBA goalkeeper Aedan Boriotti deflected his shot off to the left, Volis ran it down and slotted it into far side netting.

Sophomore goalkeeper Josh Koenig saved a shot by CBA senior Nick Meyer to the upper near left corner of the frame in the 64th minute to preserve the lead. The sophomore stopped four shots to earn the shutout.

Middletown North 3, No. 8 Marlboro 1

Junior Justin McKenna scored two first-half goals and senior Dan Cavanaugh added an insurance tally in the 51st minute off a pass from senior Anthony Chiaino as the Lions (2-3, 2-3) upended the Mustangs (2-2-1, 2-2-1). McKenna opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the fifth minute and gave Middletown North a 2-1 lead in the 20th off a pass from junior Ryan Harmon.

Senior Verezdat Tapuzyan scored the equalizer for Marlboro in the 11th minute off a feed from sophomore Brian Dates.

Freehold 0, No. 3 Freehold Twp. 0

Senior Jesus Lopez saved 10 shots and Freehold Township junior counterpart Josh Nastarowicz turned back six as the Colonials (4-2-1, 2-2-1) and Patriots (3-1-2, 3-1-1) played to a scoreless draw.

 

Class A South

Lacey 3, Toms River South 1

Seniors Hunter Dorsey, Robert Biele and Garrett Hope each scored a goal and the Lions (7-1, 5-1) beat the Indians (5-2, 5-1) to move into a first-place tie with Toms River South atop the Class A South standings.

Jackson Memorial 3, Brick Memorial 0

Senior Nick Schlageter assisted junior Mike Schoener's 10th goal of the season, then scored one of his own a minute later to help the Jaguars (5-2-1, 4-1-1) blank the Mustangs (2-4-1, 2-3-1). Schoener broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 32nd and senior Anthony Nappi found Schlageter a minute later to give Jackson Memorial a 2-0 halftime lead.

Junior Christian Fryc capped the scoring with a penalty kick in the 51st minute. Junior Dylan Kanner saved five shots to pick up the shutout.

No. 10 Toms River North 2, Southern 1

Junior Mitch Reed and senior Joey Hertgen each scored a goal and the Mariners (4-2-1, 4-1-1) edged the Rams (1-6, 1-5). Ethan Laming scored the lone Southern goal.

 

Class B Central

Mater Dei Prep 2, Henry Hudson 0

Junior Phil Cantave and senior Nic Geneve each scored a goal and sophomore Ryan Baird picked up his second straight shutout in a Seraphs (2-4-1, 2-3-1) win over the Admirals (0-5, 0-5).

Ranney 6, Keyport 0

Freshman AO Odunlami scored two goals and the Panthers (5-2, 4-2) shut out the Red Raiders (0-5, 0-5). Juniors Ian Dobrzynski, Mo Odunlami and Asher Kraut each added a goal, as did sophomore Marc Greenstein.

No. 2 Shore 6, St. Rose 1

Junior Dante Montesinos scored two more goals to increase his season total to 13 and senior J.T. Kessler added his 14th to help lead the Blue Devils (8-0, 6-0) to a win over the Purple Roses (4-3, 4-2), their eighth straight to open the season.

Junior Matt Dutra, freshman Leonardo Montesinos and senior Brett Norman each added a goal for Shore.

Jonathan Caputo scored in the 10th minute to give St. Rose a 1-0 lead before Dante Montesinos and Dutra scored less than a minute apart to give Shore a 2-1 lead in the 19th minute.

Point Beach 7, Asbury Park 0

Sophomore Aris Papoutsakis scored two goals and sophomore Mike Ciorlian added a goal and two assists to help lead the Garnet Gulls (4-3-1, 4-1-1) to a convincing win over the Blue Bishops (2-5, 2-4).

Seniors Johan Rosa and Jack McDonald each chipped in a goal and an assist, while sophomore Andrew Garrow and senior Nick Antagnoli each scored a goal. Sophomore Danny Savage also assisted two goals for Point Beach.

 

Class B South

Barnegat 4, Manchester 3

Freshman Ricky Norman scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute - the second of two goals in the game - and the Bengals (3-5, 2-4) won a wild game against the Hawks (0-7, 0-6). Senior Brandon Spain set up junior Sean Moran for the equalizer in the first minute of the second half after Manchester had scored three straight to take a 3-2 lead.

Senior Dom Gregg assisted a goal by senior John Dolan in the 14th minute and scored one of his own in the 24th to pull Manchester even at 2. Senior Nick Cybenko scored off a pass from sophomore Jordan Finkle in the 38th minute to give Manchester the 3-2 lead heading into halftime.

Norman scored his first goal in the 10th minute and junior Nico Veneziano scored in the 12th to give Barnegat a 2-0 lead.

Central 5, Jackson Liberty 2

Seniors Shane Cranstoun and Jake Dufner each scored two goals and junior Nate Wiley added one to help the Golden Eagles (3-1-2, 3-1-1) beat the Lions (3-4-1, 3-2-1).

Donovan Catholic 2, Pinelands 1 (OT)

Junior Matt Dalton scored in the seventh minute of the second overtime period off a pass from junior Kevin Dillon and the Griffins (3-2-2, 3-1-2) outlasted the Wildcats (4-3, 4-2) for a win in extra time.

The golden goal was the second of the game for Dalton, who scored the equalizer in the 30th minute off a pass from junior Ryan Acosta.

Junior Matt O'Connell scored seven minutes into the game on a Jordan Humphreys assist to give Pinelands an early one-goal advantage.
