Class A Central

Raritan 2, No. 10 Matawan 2

Junior Ryan Goggins scored off a feed from sophomore Jake Fortune 27 seconds after Matawan took a two-goal lead and set up Del Russo for the equalizer in the 32nd minute as the Rockets (6-0-2, 3-0-2) rallied to tie the Huskies (5-1-1, 4-1-1) and remain unbeaten.

Matawan jumped in front on a goal by senior Jacob Labinger in the fourth minute, set up by a cross to the middle from the left endline by senior Tyler Chin. The Huskies extended the lead to 2-0 when Rich Roberts made a perfectly timed run onto a through-ball from senior Griffin Hayward and finished the breakaway.

Raritan, however, came right back when Del Russo took the ball to the touch line on the right side and crossed it to an open Goggins, who hammered it home. Goggins later played the ball through to Del Russo, who finished a one-on-one chance against Matawan keeper Ethan Goldenthal to the far left corner of the goal.

The best chance for either team in overtime came in the 96th minute, when Matawan senior Charlie Costello broke loose behind the defense and chipped a shot over goalkeeper Chad Santopadre from inside the 18-yard box. The shot, however, sailed just wide of the right post.

Red Bank 2, Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Chris Fuentes broke through with a goal in the 50th minute off a Brandon Vyoung feed and Kevin Gomez added a goal in the 62nd to help the Bucs (1-4-1, 1-3-1) beat the Bulldogs (1-5, 1-4) for their first win of the season.

Chris Valdentano started the build-up to the first goal by getting the ball to Vyoung on an overlapping run. Vyoung hit Fuentes at the near post and the senior drilled a shot past Rumson keeper Markar Krikorian from six years out.

Gomez capped the scoring with a shot from the top of the 18-yard box.

All of the scoring prior to Gordon's game-winner came in the first half. Ocean struck first on a 22-yard volley from senior Jordan Ornowski in the 20th minute. Wall scored the next two goals, with Dakota Dobrovich-Fago and Justin Hetzel scoring three minutes apart in the 29th and 32nd minutes.
