Junior Josh Hocheiser scored on a low strike to the left side of the goal 25 minutes in off a pass from Caleb Zettell and the Patriots (5-3, 5-3) added a pair of goals in the second half to pull away from the previously-unbeaten Green Wave (5-1, 5-1).

Senior Zach Orrico converted a penalty kick in the 55th and sophomore Tim Bertscha scored his first varsity goal in the 62nd off a through-ball from junior Aidan Szymanski.

No. 9 Ocean 1, No. 8 Holmdel 1

Senior Ben Milstein headed in a ball from Anthony Pesce for the equalizer in the 31st minute and the Hornets (6-0-1, 5-0-1) salvaged a draw with the Spartans (5-1-1, 4-1-1) to extend their unbeaten streak to 61 straight matches.

Junior Peter Baillergeau scored to give Ocean the lead in the first half - the first deficit Holmdel has faced this season.

Raritan 3, Shore 0

Senior Chris Fontanazza scored two goals and junior Dan O'Chat added another as the Rockets (6-0, 6-0) blanked the Blue Devils (2-5, 2-5) to win their sixth straight to open the season.

 

Class B North

No. 7 Wall 3, No. 10 Manasquan 0

Junior Terence Byrnes scored two of Wall's three goals in the first 20 minutes and the Crimson Knights (8-0, 8-0) rode a hot start to a second straight win over the Warriors (5-2-1, 5-2-1) and eighth straight overall to open the year.

Senior Nick DellaPietro knocked in the game's first goal in the second minute after junior Matt Murphy crossed the ball into the box and in the ninth minute, Byrnes finished from close range after senior Philip Lyons tried an overhead bicycle kick and tapped the ball right to Byrnes.

Byrnes capped the scoring by one-timing a cross from Murphy out of the air and into the goal in the 20th minute.

Matawan 2, St. John Vianney 1 (OT)

Junior Jarrett Norman scored the golden goal in the 96th minute and the Huskies (5-3, 5-3) pulled out an overtime win over the Lancers (1-6-1, 1-6-1).

Senior Pasindu Didabgoda scored the first Matawan goal while senior Danny Vitale accounted for the St. John Vianney goal.

No. 6 Colts Neck 8, Freehold Boro 0

Junior David Tuschmann scored three unanswered goals to open the game and senior Jake Gershon posted two goals and three assists to lead the Cougars (7-0, 7-0) to another rout of the Colonials (1-7, 1-7), extended their season-opening winning streak to seven.

Sophomore Jiro Chira and seniors Ryan Lee and Michael Batelli each added a goal and senior Adam Haaf dished out two assists.

Red Bank 4, Neptune 1

Senior Adam Tlamptia scored the first Red Bank goal and Mario Mazo scored the one that proved to be the winner as the Bucs (2-6, 2-6) beat the Scarlet Fliers (1-6, 1-6) to sweep the season series.
