Class A North

No. 4 Long Branch 2, No. 5 Freehold Twp. 1

Senior Brian Completo scored the tying goal in the 70th minute and classmate Tyler Haldane scored the winner 37 seconds later to rally the Green Wave (5-0, 5-0) past the Patriots (4-3, 4-3).

Completo ran a give-and-go with Haldane on the right side of the field and ran down the pass ahead by Haldane toward the right corner. Completo beat charging Freehold Township goalkeeper John Wilhelm to the ball and fired a shot from the right angle into the empty net to tie the score at 1-1 with 10:37 left.

Within the next minute, senior Jason Laviola got the ball back down in Freehold Township's left corner and struck a cross to the front of the goal, where Haldane finished off the game-winner.

Freehold Township jumped in front in the 52nd minute on a goal by senior Zach Orrico, who knocked in a rebound after Long Branch keeper Tyler Abbot saved an initial shot by junior J.T. Gold.

Class A Central

Raritan 4, Shore 0

Senior Chris Fontanazza recorded a hat trick and senior Chris Rotondo added a goal as well to lead the Rockets (5-0, 5-0) past the Blue Devils (2-4, 2-4) for their fifth straight win to open the season.

Monmouth 3, Rumson-Fair Haven 3

Junior Aiden Hicks headed in a free kick by senior Tom Siracusa in the 68th minute and the Falcons (0-6-1, 0-6-1) rallied for a draw against the Bulldogs (2-3-1, 2-2-1) to snap a six-game losing skid to open the season.

Monmouth cut Rumson's lead to 3-2 in the 58th on a goal by junior Ryan Kuldanek off a pass from Ethan Wallace, stopping a string of three unanswered Bulldogs goals after Monmouth opened up the scoring on a finish by senior Bryan Leonard.

Senior Sam Coughlin helped stake Rumson to a 3-1 lead by scoring the equalizer in the first half, then later scoring right after sophomore teammate Alec Pentikis to turn a 1-1 game into a 3-1 Rumson advantage within a minute.

No. 8 Holmdel 2, No. 9 Ocean 0

Junior Brendan Worobel and senior Connor Hinds each buried pinpoint shots and the Hornets (6-0, 5-0) blanked the Spartans (5-1, 4-1) to extend their unbeaten streak to 60 games.

Worobel lined up a shot from the right angle from 16 yards out and drilled a ball the Ocean goalkeeper Francisco Castelo grazed with his fingertips but not enough to keep it out of the far left side netting for the game's first goal in the 16th minute.

Ocean produced multiple dangerous opportunities for an equalizer before halftime but Holmdel escaped and turned in a dominant second half. Hinds provided the insurance goal in the 49th after senior Ben Milstein slid the ball back to him, he created space and ripped a left-footed strike from the edge of the 18-yard box and just inside the top left corner of the goal.

 

Class A South

No. 2 Southern 3, Toms River East 1

Senior Kevin Kiernan recorded his second hat trick of the season and classmate Ryan Leavitt assisted two of them to help lead the Rams (6-0, 6-0) to a win over the Raiders (1-5, 1-5) and a sixth-straight victory to open the season.

 

Class B North

Red Bank 1, Neptune 0

An own goal proved to be the difference and the Bucs (1-6, 1-6) held on to shutout the Scarlet Fliers (1-5, 1-5) for their first win of the season.

No. 6 Colts Neck 6, Freehold Boro 0

Senior Derek Haaf pumped in a hat trick and senior Ryan Lee added two goals of his own as the Cougars (6-0, 6-0) routed the Colonials (1-6, 1-6) to remain unbeaten.

Christian Zita accounted for the final Colts Neck goal and junior David Tuschmann dished out two assists in the win.

Matawan 3, St. John Vianney 0

Junior Esben Nielsen scored the first Matawan goal and classmates Chris Mularadelis and Jarrett Norman each added an insurance goal to help key a Huskies (4-3, 4-3) victory over the Lancers (1-5-1, 1-5-1).

No. 7 Wall 2, No. 10 Manasquan 1

Senior Philip Lyons opened the scoring in the early minutes and senior Jake Pepe tacked on what proved to be the winning goal as the Crimson Knights (7-0, 7-0) handed the Warriors (5-1-1, 5-1-1) their first loss of the season.

Senior Sean Wayne drew Manasquan within a goal in the 75th minute by converting off a pass from junior Mike Cafiero.

 

Class B Central

St. Rose 9, Mater Dei Prep 2

Junior Morgan Fahy notched a hat trick - including an over-the-head bicycle kick - to lead the Purple Roses (4-1, 4-0) to a rout of the Seraphs (0-3, 0-3).

Senior Matt Kirkpatrick added two goals while Matt Gowen, James Vitale, Colin Westhovern and Sean Lattimer each found the net for St. Rose. Junior Kyle Corrigan also assisted four goals and Padraig O'Hearn set up two in the victory.

 

Class B South
