Junior attackman Josh Nastarowicz had four goals and four assists to reach 100 career points and lead the Patriots (9-3, 5-1) past the Lions (6-9, 2-5).

St. John Vianney 9, Red Bank Catholic 8

Junior attackman Chris Kelly scored a game-high four goals in a pivotal game for the Lancers (7-7, 4-4) who clinched a berth in the Shore Conference Tournament by edging the Caseys (7-7, 4-4).

Wednesday was the cutoff for teams to have at least a .500 record and thus be eligible for the SCT.

St. John Vianney outscored Red Bank Catholic 4-1 in the second quarter to open a 5-3 halftime lead. Junior midfielder Ryan Gilfillan scored twice to reach 100 career points, and senior goalie D.J. Soriano made 10 saves to give him 713 stops for his career. Junior midfielder Tino D'Amore had one goal and two assists and junior attackman Andrew Porretta had one goal and one assist. Senior midfielder Conor Zielasnicki scored once.

Senior midfielder Liam McArdle had one goal and five assists to lead Red Bank Catholic, which had already qualified for the SCT. Senior midfielder Brett Habich had three goals and one assist, sophomore midfielder James Mele scored twice and senior attackman Alec Mintz finished with one goal and one assist. Junior attackman Joey Caputo also scored and senior goalie Matt Benjamin made 10 saves.

St. John Vianney had a 19-18 edge in shots.

 

CLASS B SOUTH

Jackson Liberty at St. Rose - postponed to Thursday

No. 2 Manasquan at Point Boro - postponed

Donovan Catholic at Barnegat - postponed
